Tl;dr : to ensure all raid members can handle all aspects of the final fight, create a debuff on one teleport team to force a rotation. Keeps everyone prepared but doesn't force everyone to bring atheons epilogue and praeydeths revenge.
While I understand the need for players to know how to perform every role in the raid, isn't it problematic and against Destiny's own "choose your path" philosophy if players have so little control over the raid fight? Relic holders aren't randomly chosen during the Templar fight for a reason. Maybe 5 people have capped weapons.
Making Atheon choose randomly will only force all players to use the same load outs or weapons. Imagine a raid team, admittedly a poor and sore one, where the three players teleported didn't have oracle disruptor weapons.
Without a quick change system, especially with how bad I hear the UI lag is on last generation consoles, it'll only frustrate those who "have chosen their destiny."
Coupled with teleporting bugs and uneven teleports, horrid. By uneven, I mean the Minotaur in the right gate (past,Venus,green,whatever) requires player assistance, and having a team mate ready with a heavy weapon is invaluable.
If a desire is to ensure everyone in a raid knows how to do anything, why not just debuff the last team to teleport with something like "Time Fatigue" that prevents them from teleporting for 1 minute. In a way, this would encourage prepared teams and heavily punish the teleporters that die. A gate team with time fatigue won't be able to go into the gates to save a dead teammate or anything.
If the debuff was random, it would still give the team an ability to prepare it communicate what's about to happen.
But while Bungie did reconsider the 33% damage hit in the vex mythoclast for Pve after feedback, I doubt this will be heard. Not out of anger, just worry.
I guess I'll find out this week. It's been fun seeing the game challenge Bungies expectations, especially regarding the number of people who have completed the raid. Great game. :)
