Is destiny an addiction or is it because it's actually a good game people keep playing?
I will give my opinion in an edit but I am curious to know what the community thinks.

It must be addiction, because when you really look at it, it's mediocre at best.
-
I think it is VERY related to Gambling addiction ... Destiny is a game world version of Slot Machines :(
-
I just think that game is fun but my wife will tell you it's an addiction
-
I'm addicted to patrol missions.

Edited by Mike-MF-Hall: 10/27/2014 9:55:19 AMI dont think it matters. I don't play games I don't like. The idea of game A holding me over until game B releases is foreign to me. I did not like CoD ghosts for example and I was done playing in a matter of days I think people need to grow up and accept that every game they like or play won't be the most critically acclaimed.

It's a worrying addiction.

I feel I need to much more than I want to. As a solo player things are more difficult for me. I don't have a team to run raids or weekly night falls. Those that do have better items or they get stuff done much easier. I have to put a lot of time into trying to keep pace.

You can't just write a game off as being addicting, you would have to say video games as a whole are addicting. For something to be obviously addicting it needs to have a serious source of pleasure and escape...wait, why do we play video games again? Also, who goes into withdrawal after not gaming for a few hours? Got them Destiny cold sweats? Those CoD tremors? I need to play some Destiny man, I will suck yo dick for five minutes of game time man.

Are you even serious? Fasct for all who don´t know - they actually hired a psychologist to find out what people addicts to a game so they can push it to the max. It´s definitely smarter to hire someone who makes the game better if you ask me. Were you addicted to Skyrim or did you crave for playing it (because of the interest in your own legend - LOL)????????

I find there is difference as in WANTING to play the game versus the feeling of NEEDING to play the game. I feel like i need to play the game to finish the dailys, weekls, and the bounties. There were games that i wanted to play like FF series. My 2cents.

It was something for me to play even though it was boring as all hell for a month or so till Samurai Warriors 4 released.
-
My boyfriend says it's an addiction. But idc I like this game a lot!
-
addiction. I wake up in the middle of the night with my brain replaying strikes and missions and crucible matches with exact detail.. It's scary lol
-
I think it's good
-
Really addicting but I'm taking a break when cod comes out
-
The gameplay is good, the loot is addictive.
-
It's a checklist. I only have one thing left on it (get to 30) then I'm done.
-
Just something to do until ACU in about a month, and I will be back at least once every 1-2 weeks for weekly and will completely be back on dlc time
-
It was addicting when it first came out -- I'd say in its 1st 3 weeks. Now it's just a placeholder until DAI launches in a few weeks.
-
I would say a bit of both for me, it helps me de-stress after work and has been a comfortable FPS that helped me improve my skills. Also it introduced me to PvP and was a quick learning curve to get better. I went from the bottom all the time to 2nd or 3rd.

It's a schism, between those that have reached the endgame at their pace and have found it lacking (but still play with friends because that's how "having fun with friends" works), those who are in denial about damn-near everything wrong with the game and will wait years, like a puppy at the front entrance waiting for its master to come home, for Bungie to fix the game (or buy the next installment), and those who have a slower pacing due to RL and other leisurely factors and are therefore enjoying the game without reaching the endgame just yet.
-
Some of both.
-
The Story was lacking, but the Strikes and Crucible are fun. I enjoy it.
-
It's a good game. At least for me it is, So I don't mind playing it as much as I do. (300+ hours logged) Could be a addiction, but I'll never know as addicts tend to be in denial an I don't see me with a "problem". X3
