Destiny is not made for anyone with a job or family

I stuck with Destiny for a while. I defended Bungie through many changes and updates. But as time goes by I see a pattern here. A pattern that is edging me, and others like me, out of Destiny entirely. Who are "other like me"? People with careers and families. I feel like Bungie is looking at a small audience with many of the patches. I think Bungie is slowly edging out the gaming community that has money to spend; ya know, people who work full time jobs and have families that do not have 6+ hours solid several times a week to play this. I wish I could get my expansion money back because I am certain not to play it now. I hate that I fed Bungie money to do this to us. They will not get one more dime from me now that I know that they do not care about my type of gamer. They apparently cater to the "I can game for 10 hours a day" crowd. Yeah, I know, people are going to jump all over this and claim they are super elite gamers that got to level 28 and defeated VOG on level 30 with under 20 hours of gameplay. But ya know what? Ya'll are not the majority of players. I congratulate your gaming powers, but realistically you are not the market share. And before people start calling me a casual gamer or farmer, use the Bungie app and Xbox tools to actually look at my stats. I am not a farmer, I am not a "casual gamer". I just happen to have a job and a family so I can do things like drop $90 on a game and its DLC. I feel totally excluded from this game because I simply CANNOT play for hours and hours on end every day. I can do 3-4 hrs a day on weekdays and 6+ on weekends, but every update makes me feel more and more like Bungie is making sure that if I am not truly "hardcore" AND jobless I can't enjoy Destiny. When friends or coworkers ask me about Destiny I tell them it isn't enjoyable unless you can sink an incredible amount of time constantly into the game. If you have any life at all, the game quickly becomes boring and unenjoyable because all the patches are about catering to this small community of people who have tons of time to play. This prevents most people who have families from even giving it a try. Bungie needs to get its priorities straight. Until they do, I am done with Destiny entirely. I will gladly spend my hard earned money giving it to Ubisoft, Rockstar or Bioware who seem to understand people have to have a job to pay for their game content.

 • I'm only playing a couple hours a day on average and a whole lot on Tuesday (or whatever one of my days off is). It takes longer to get what the hardcore people have, but you'll get there eventually. Destiny isn't a race, you can set goals for yourself and stop whenever you like. You don't even need to raid if you don't want to. Getting to 28-29 will put you ahead of the game for the next DLC. If you look at the levels of difficulty, the end game content starts at 24, anything above that is doing well. If you feel like you need to raid, hit 30 and have all the dream gear you wanted, then you do have to work for it. I'll do the raid one of these days, I don't really care about the loot honestly. As the game is, it's like tier 1 in WoW. At 60, tier 1 was about 9 levels above the greens, level 60 Blues were about 6 levels above. So that first raid tier wasn't all that much to get excited about. In Destiny, it's 1 light higher (which is arguably a big deal). If there's a 3+ light difference between casual gear and raid/pvp gear, I'll probably be more inclined to hit the raid content. Have fun, don't stress if you can't get what the hardcore people have. Put the game away for a while, come back for events, roll an alt or whatever suits your fancy.
