[Bug Report] Losing Heavy Weapon Ammo on Death (With explanation and suggested fix)
It is nothing new that when you die, you can lose heavy ammo. Anyone who has raided and wiped at least a few times has likely experienced the scenario involving them using a Heavy Ammo Synthesis only to have a quick wipe for whatever reason and to respawn with about half of what they previously had.
My theory as to what causes this is that the armor pieces that you have equipped that increase the amount of heavy ammo you can carry are the culprit.
THE CAUSE
What I believe happens on a technical level is that during death, the game first removes any armor you are wearing before putting your character in the dead state. When it does this, it removes some of your carried ammo. When you respawn, that gear is re-enabled, but doing so does not restore the ammo that you lost. I do not believe that this occurs with other types of ammo. However, primary is a tricky one to test simply because death seems to restore primary ammo.
THE FIX
I'm not sure how you have the code set up to handle the death process. For all I know, you can even have the lack of gear be the trigger for the "death state". What I would suggest is to look at any differences between the coding for heavy and special ammo and to consider the best route to solving the issue.
