I've heard a rumor recently regarding the Vex Mythoclast having two versions in future patches of the game. Basically, Bungie has been tracking how quickly guardians have been disposing of Atheon after he spawns. They figure if you dispose of him after the first time-gate opens; then you must have cheesed the boss and not beaten him "properly". You can keep the gun that you were erroneously awarded, but you will have a nerfed version or "cheesed" version of the gun that reflects the stats that are currently in place after the 10/14/14 hotfix. Whereas, those who actually destroyed Atheon via massive amounts of damage and time will get the classic Vex Mythoclast that appeared first in the game with its original stats. Opinion time: Bungie is dissatisfied with the amount of folks who are carrying the Vex Mythoclast. It was never meant to be a weapon for the "run of the mill" guardians. Rather, reserved for the best of the best (clans, dedicated players, lifers, twitchers, etc.)They consider Atheon being pushed off the edge of the Vault of Glass to be a "bug". A bug that Bungie overlooked. A bug that was discovered and exploited. Hence, they are punishing those who were fortunate enough to get the Vex Mythoclast, because it's still random. I've got friends who have run the raid on hard many many times and still have not been awarded that weapon. While I can see Bungie's position on the matter, it was still THEIR mistake. They are the developer and we are the consumer. If Walmart prices something incorrectly on their shelf, I still get the SAME item for the mistaken price. I really see no difference here. Guardians took advantage of the "bug" and got lucky. Everyone had that chance, it's still a game of chance. Do a better job in the future and make sure your Raids are nice and tight Bungie so this doesn't happen again, but don't punish your community that gets these items and are really excited to have them and then to have them taken away because you feel they shouldn't have them.
