Raid gear alternative
So after doing a bit of researching... I'd have to say that I have no desire to do the Raid for the gear. Weapons, yes. But not gear. My character is nearly where all of the stats, perks, and look are all on point. This brings me to my next point...
Since I don't have any desire to wear any raid gear (besides the boots possibly for heavy ammo) - how the hell am I supposed to get to lvl 30?
Exactly... I can't. Which is pretty lame. Especially if the next raid is set to apparently increase lvl cap to 32. Wearing any combination of raid gear would alter my game play style in a way that just... Isn't me.
So I propose there should be an option that allows you to basically infuse the light from the raid gear into your current armor set. Therefor you still have to do the raid and get the gear in the first place, but then you can use it to upgrade any legendary equivalent item. Ex) helm to helm and not boots to helm. By doing so it would raise the starting light value or increase the upgrade. BUT your helm would be reset and you'd have to level it up all over just as if you were wearing the newly acquired raid gear. Since its a more customized look too, lvl it up would take longer... Like on par with duration of an exotic.
This is kinda off the top of my head. I can clarify further if necessary! I think this would actually help solve some minor concerns about everyone looking the same and so forth. So thoughts anyone?

3 RepliesHere is what pisses me off people saying they don't want to do the raid for gear I did the raid for gear and I got level 30 the day that people who don't work to get max level is the day where I lose faith in humanity. I have over a day spent in the raid I deserve max level now the drop rates cud be better but ther is a reason why people can't get max level from pvp so people who hardly do work on their characters don't get max level. That is the reason the rule for mmo games ther will always be people who get the best in slot gear and people who don't it is the way shit works.

1 ReplyAbsolutely. Leaving your entire ability to level up to a luck is not a enjoyable experience. Some say 29 vs 30 is no big deal. I disagree. It allows for more damage resistance and output in strikes, weekly nightfall and other PvE activities. It's just plan better or else no one would do it. Now to get it takes a series of luck and work: -Finding 5 friends on your friend list and reading their minds to see if they want to raid -planning with 5 friends ahead of time to setup a time -going to forums or DestinyLFG and attempting to make a group -finally getting a group and actually it's a good group that can succeed -getting lucky with RNG in raid and then getting a piece of gear -not throwing your controller across room on hard mode when 30 Pretorians swarm, or you glitch back into a portal, or any other wonderful glitch -also not throwing a controller or blood clot when nothing but energy drops on Atheon and some new guy says "oh Mythoclast and last word? Are those things any good?" -ahhhh yes leaving your entire progression in a game up to a damn slot machine.

To be effective in a hard Raid, you don't need Raid gear- a fully upgraded exotics and fully upgraded legendaries get you to 29 which anymore is almost completely as effective as 30 minus melee damage resistance but you'll have gear with better stats. (and better looks) Due to Destiny's system decreasing your effectiveness against lower lvl enemies, being 30 won't help you kill 28s. So if you aren't doing the Hard Raid as a Relic Holder, you don't need to be lvl 30.

agreed. i think there is likely going to be some alternatives to the raid gear to push past lvl 29 and even 30 in the coming months. i really hope it doesn't require the purchase of the dlc, but I'm still waiting to see how bungie is going to employ the dlc for destiny. Ideally, bungie would add some new content for free (new planets, weapons, armor) and use the dlc to expand the existing content (new areas and missions on existing planets). i think this would reinstill confidence in the game and would actually result in more people purchasing dlc overall versus attaching a price tag to every bit of substantial content that gets released. again, we'll see.

There should most definitely be some way to reach level 30 other than relying on RANDOM drops in RAID. Even if it was a 5 step bounty like Exotics, or at XUR on the weekends for a ton of coins.
