  • There seems to be a little bit of back and forth on this whole Atheon Timestream selection process. And by that I mean there is a giant crowd who oppose this Timestream "Fix" and a small extremist group who say that we should suck it up and move on. You can take away you're loot caves and ascended shard yielded event armor and add boss bumpers to stop them from falling off and ruin the legendary Random Number Generator by making Ascended Materials Legendary (can't get raid gear to save my life); I could care less. However, I am in total disagreement with whomever at Bungie decided that it's a glitch that Atheon only chooses the farthest three players, if only because that's probably something that should've been noticed during development and testing phases. And while you can't account for everything that could happen when a game goes public, Atheon is a programmed NPC that has to choose it's victims somehow. How is it going to choose now, Bungie? Nothing is ever completely random and so if Atheon has to choose, is he going to default to one of each class type or the weakest of the six...or the strongest? Choosing the farthest three seemed like a good logical choice (especially when you get to Hard mode). After the frantic mess that is your "first run" through the raid, players want to have a mechanic that's predictable so that you can plan on sending through the best players for the job. Not only in experience but, in this game's instance, If my team has three hunters on it and only one of them has their golden gun charged-well heck-we probably want to send that golden gun to shoot the oracles fast and quick so we don't succumb. Instead of insta-wiping when atheon chooses it's victims at complete random(which is what's going to happen. Just watch Bungie. The number of wipes on the raid is gonna sky rocket and 75% will be by choice because of random Timestreams-the other 25% will be failed attempts when the players go where they want to go). In closing I will say only this: A game is fun when players can do what they want and when you constrict our exploratory abilities or open ended planning abilities we start to have less fun adn treat that game more like a job. Also, would you make a seasoned professional starting quarterback your running back-or wide receiver-or any other position on the football team whenever you felt like it. No. Your quarter back is just that and he's been conditioned and trained to be your best and first pick for the job of quarter back. Same goes for any raid team. Sure there are players who can fill a slot for the chance happening of an unfortunate death but a team functions when the team knows what its players can do and when they need to do it. Side Note* If this last month of patching and hot fix nonsense is any indication, Destiny doesn't have a 10 year lifespan in any capacity. And if a sequel was ever in the plan, it's gonna have a lot of fan repair to do. I am still of the mind that Destiny was going to only have DLC expansions with maybe one sequel 4 years down the road...Now I think they need to hurry out a sequel that does better open world, less loading time(or preferably zero), and more memorable events, armor and weapons and it needs to be current console generation only. The Game I saw at E3 2013 looked more interesting than the game I'm playing right now.
