What does Destiny do well?

Hey all. I've been very critical of certain aspects of this game as I am an old Halo fan and had great expectations and pre-conceived notions of how said aspects would and should be constructed. However, I feel I have been to negative and decided I would begin positive mental perspective and convey what I enjoy about the game. The question: What do you feel Destiny does well or exceptionally well? I'll begin. -The gunplay. I feel Destiny has the gunplay on lock. I greatly enjoy handling the weapons and never get tired of shooting in this game. It is the most enjoyable FPS since Halo for me. Perhaps that is to be expected. -Sparrows. I love the sparrows. I enjoy the handling of the vehicle even if I feel it could be a bit more nimble. I think it's a solid "mount" for the game and an ideal mode of transportation. -The vistas. Every moment of gameplay is breathtaking. The world is picturesque and every image is hyper real and romanticised. The sky is mesmerizing no matter what world(or moon) you're on. The images of your surroundings hint at more wilderness to explore and that is exciting. -Armor rendering. Specifically, I love my Titan's armor rendering. On my PS4 and 1080p Sony it looks spectacular. -Weapon rendering. The Thorn hand canon and the Vex Mythoclast specifically. -The ballistics. I think the physics of the ballistics in this game are well done. Everything seems to operate as I might imagine it would in real life. I understand this is a space shooter an entirely fictional, but there needs to be a connection to current reality in order to create lasting ties with the possible future and th is does that. (My only exception here is the hand canon. Weapon enthusiasts, check out the location of the barrel and it's lack of alignment with the hammer and rounds.) -The soundtrack. O'donnell, Salvatore, and Sir Paul McCartney (yes, THAT Paul McCartney) have done a masterful job producing a beautiful aural canvas upon which we can experience this game. I don't feel it ever gets as iconic as the Halo Mjolnir theme because I feel they are entirely different works with different goals. The Destiny score is more thoughtful and contemplative and I love it for that reason. Still, I listen to it even when not playing the game and it certainly is epic. This is my short list of positives. There are others that didn't make it but I wanted to remain concise so Deej and the devs can easily see where I feel they have succeeded. So what do you think Destiny and Bungie have done well?

  • I think you've covered most of the things on my checklist. If I could add one thing it would be the different classes ( Titan, Warlock and Hunter ), the sub classes and the skill trees. I think they were pretty well done.
