Vanquisher VIII & Shadow Price (III?) are almost dead equal with their stats. My Vanquisher is deadset the best Auto Rifle I've held in this game

Shadow Price and Vanquisher are good legendaries. Much better than atheons epilogue. The only use I ever found for atheons epilogue was in the Raid or for Nightfall strikes when the void modifier is on. Usually you want to avoid assault rifles with maxed out fire rate because these weapons lack any impact and they have sub par stability. The top 5 primary weapons, IMO, in the crucible right now 1 being the highest: 1. The Last Word - Skilled people who use this weapon are rarely beat in 1v1 gun fights. 2 shots to the head followed by a third shot anywhere puts people down and it fires very rapidly. I was outgunning the Vex Mythoclast before it was nerfed with this weapon and still use it today. 2. Suros Regime - I used to use this before Xur sold it to the masses and it is an obvious power house. You won't notice a lack of these circulating through the crucible. 3. Vex Mythoclast - Definitely used to be #1 until it was nerfed but it is still a dangerous weapon up close especially if the user can score headshots. 4. Visions of Confluence - Very good scout rifle especially since the buff scout rifles recieved. I haven't used it for myself but I have seen people use this very effectively. You certainly want to try keep opponents at mid range just like all scout rifles because you will always lose to the above 3 weapons if your too close. 5. This one is actually a tie and it depends heavily on the user but I would say either Red Death/ Strangers Rifle/ or Thorn. Strangers rifle is very effective at distances but up close (which most encounters will be) this weapon cant handle it. Red Death has good abilities but it fires so slow, you most likely will lose to Auto Rifles unless you are at a further distance. Thorn is also good if you are able to land your shots but the thing that is hurting this weapon right now is the 6 rounds it holds and a very slow reload time.
