Problems with Defender's super ability.

Greetings, fellow guardians As it now is, I think WoD is not a balanced super. It's completely random. - There's no way of telling how long it will last, it's a non- reliant super ability. - There's no way of telling what buff you are running, it's a non- reliant super ability. - Other supers can just destroy your shield, it's a non- reliant super ability. - Orbs of light created from the shield are quite random, it's a non reliant super ability. - How much is the dmg buff. No clue of really telling IG, it's a non- reliant super ability. I think there should be some rebalancing to adress these issues. - Visual indication of how long the WoD will last (some sort of visual timer animation). - Colour coded shields (to indicate what buff it gives)? Or maybe some type of animation (a radiating shield for the weapon buff) - Buff the shield so that it is harder to destroy. For example only when u use a super INSIDE the shield instead of just negating it with your own super ability. I don't think this would make the shield OP since it would still be vulnerable in a way. - An indication how many orbs of light are created IG (in the description). - An indication of the buffs IG. I think these are some minor changes to make this super ability more balanced. As it is now, I feel like it's only used as a buff bubble instead of a shield bubble. Making the super more reliable would greatly improve its usefullness, both in PVE and PVP. I'm looking forward to some feedback of you guys and I hope Bungie reads this. *Btw, this is my opinion. I'm not complaining since I very much like to use WoD. I only see it could be a bit better balanced. As a defender, I would greatly appreciate these changes and I'm trying to be constructive. And in advance, sorry for possibly grammar errors, I'm not a native English speaker.

Two to start, with 3 more if you have the right perk after taking damage. - How much is the dmg buff. No clue of really telling IG, it's a non- reliant super ability. *If you really want to know, just look at the damage indicators. Wouldn't take long to figure out.

    • I like your ideas for sure. Along with that I don't like the fact you can't shoot out of the bubble but in pve you can generally adjust to that. In pvp however you in your bubble chilling capturing a flag point or what ever the case may be and you see a hunter coming full blast you either have to run for dear life or die because you can't try and take him out while he's on his way to you because you can't shoot outside the shield and once he gets inside the bubble or really just near it he's gonna blade dance all over your ***

    • I wish you didn't say "it's a non-reliant super ability" so much. Also it says which buffs you are getting in the corner where it says all buffs you get.

      • The only problem I see with ward of dawn is when another player uses their super it destroys the bubble and the people inside. I think instead the WOD should be destroyed by other supers but negate the damage to the players inside

        • I think the bubble should be bigger, should spawn more orbs, and should last longer. All of these should be upgrades. By the way, I'm a hunter, I just love helpful support classes such defenders. I feel as if the more OP the support class, the better. Because it helps everyone.

On the bottom left hand side of your screen, it clearly says "Armor of Light", "Weapons of Light", "Blessing of Light" depending on which buff you have active. This is only a problem in PVP but I do not like the fact that it cannot nullify other Supers but can in turn be nullified. I don't think it should be damageable at all since it cannot attack you. [/quote] Actually, the perk "Gift of the Void" makes you generate orbs by taking enemy fire and whenever you drop the bubble and block damage to receive the Blast Shield medal you generate orbs. No clue of really telling IG, it's a non- reliant super ability.[/quote] I agree that I'd like to know how much the buff is, but the fact that we don't know has ZERO bearing on balance, nor does it make the Super unreliable.

            • You're better with English then a lot of native English speakers. I disagree with you on the bubbles strength though. Another super should be able to destroy it. HOWEVER it shouldn't also be able to kill someone that was inside the bubble from the outside.

                You just have to develop a feel for how long it lasts, it becomes second nature to know when it's about to disappear and jump out overtime. The orbs are explained pretty clearly in your perks for defender. Your right it doesn't list exactly how much of a damage buff you get from perks like "blessing of light" or "armor of light" but it's just like the timer on the ward of dawn, you learn to develop a feel for how much damage you can withstand with the buff for whatever perk you have selected. I don't think any changes are necessary to the defender, iv'e never had any issues with the WoD or any other perks within the class. It takes a little practice to get a feel for the duration of the shield as well as to feel out how much of a buff the perks give you but in that sense it's not much different than any of the other supers, they all take a little getting used to at first. Besides do we really wanna inspire any more unnecessary changes to the game? Edit: I agree the WoD should be resistant to supers though, or at least a compromise where it takes more than one super per use to destroy WoD.

              • I just thought of something the BD's bar starts to go down when he activates why can't we have the same. That would be Very easy to code since the visual is already there. No need for any additional UI.

                • I definitely think it should debuff the enemy player in accordance with the buff. Armor should make enemies weak but only inside. Blessing should strip the enemies shield when they pass in or out and weapons should decrease their damage. I love how the helm of saint blinds people but I think they should take damage or suffer a debuff as well for trying to take over the bubble. Buff the helmet to add such an effect!

                • I just think that it's stupid how you can be inside your bubble looking at another player using their super outside and can't do a damn thing to stop them unless you get out of it.

                • Amen brother, the fact that a Warlock can nuke me from 20 meters away and kill me inside my shield in the process is very very annoying. Golden gun can take it down with 3 shots which is ok, because other than those using that awesome hunter helm you just literally negated the shield while using your super and then it's a fair 1v1. FoH is rather annoying, but at least it is blocked from the outside.

                  • I personally dislike that my "super shield" can be negated by someone just walking through it. Titan,"Friends! Come within my protective shield! It will save us!" Warlock,"Ted, who's the new guy?" Titan,"What new guy?" Warlock,"The hunter with the knife." Titan,"Shi..."*throat cut* Warlock,"Run!" I mean...a super shield that blocks bullets and rockets, but not those shooting them. On a side note...I have one of each class. I've actually walked into a bubble as a warlock and melee killed the one inside.

                    • Yeah the defender's shield is way too weak and other supers can easily crash it or kill it's occupants. The timer is a good idea, cause you've got no clue right now how long the shield will last.

                        Tbh dude, defense classes are 'supposed' to be superior over offensive classes, they're not meant to be balanced to each other. The CON to defense classes in most MMOs that I've played at least, is that they're designed to be very hard to play, but are just naturally stronger than offense based classes when properly mastered. However this is an FPS game rather than a MMORPG. The overall design of this game doesn't really do well for defense classes sicne the stats actually don't make any essential deference P.S: Supers shouldn't break the shield, that's literally dumb. It's too easy to build up super in PVP, killing players, decreasing it with INT. That's Titan's last line of absolute defense, it should resist everything. It wouldn't make it OP, it'd make it do its damn job. It is already balanced by the fact I can't shoot you through it. Because of supers is why I never use the shield for taking control zones. Will never forget that Titan who FoH us and killed 4 of my members (I jumped out because as a fellow Titan, I knew it was coming). Fits better for small scale stuff like Rumble, Skirmish and Salvage.

                          • Im staying out of the pvp end But buffs display on screen indicating attribute but would be nice to glance and visualy tell which one but cant change color cause its a void shield Orbs are generate per dmg done to shield so more practical to use in pve since npcs will fire carelessly. A timer would be nice and simple perhaps it flickers but stays up last 5_10 seconds. Super bar yellow draining would be ideal similar to hunters arc blade.

                            • My only problem with it is in PvE, nightfall minions can melee you 2 hits ko with armor of light zzz it's called a shield for a reason, a shield shouldn't let anything in in the 1st place

                              • Only thing I don't like about WoD is that warlocks can just launch there shit into it and bypass the shield that's bullshit imo, one reason I don't use it.
