Hunters in endgame content.

[b][i][u]READ THE EDIT SECTION[/u][/i][/b] Just about useless. My main was a hunter until I realized this. Hunters bring nothing to the table. Chain of Woe and Gunslinger Trance? Nope no good on bosses. Golden gun? A fully upgraded legendary does more damage than GG. Arcblade? Great way to suicide. Whats a Hunters best stat? The one that does the least. Agility. WTF is agility good for? Movement? Maybe if it added crit damage and reload speed, maybe then it'd be useful. Golden Gun needs to [b][i]CRIT[/i][/b] when I shoot a boss in a crit area with GG I should be able to [b]see[/b] health disappear. A lvl 28 hunter should be able to halve a lvl 12 sepiks prime's hp in one GG. if he crits all three. Arcblade needs to 3 hit reaver captains and 4 hit a praetorean. Anything with red hp should instagib. PERIOD. And healing should be a basic ability on Arcblade. Chain of Woe and Gunslinger Trance should be changed to [b][i]Precision Damage[/i][/b] instead of precision kill. Thats all. And none of this would effect PvP in the slightest. Edit: Hunters aren't [i]totally[/i] useless. They lack any sort of ability to take a hit. Normally the squishy characters are rounded out by an ability to do high damage. Hence the term "Glass Cannon" Hunters have the glass part down pat. But though they get a "Cannon" it is useless on anything other than trash mobs. That and their inability to drop mass amounts of orbs (like other classes can) gives the team less of a reason to [i]need[/i] a Hunter in end game content. Sure they [i]can[/i] be effective, but that is an expression of the skill of the player. Who most likely would be even [b][i]more[/i][/b] useful as a Defender or Sunsinger. That is the crux of my arguments. If you rock face in Hardmode VoG as a Hunter, go level up (or borrow) a Sunsinger or Defender and play Hardmode with that. I guarantee you'll come back here with a new appreciation of the hinderance Hunter has actually been for you.

  • Hunters can be very useful in endgame content taking out supplicants with ease in the VoG using Golden Gun and while the Bladedancer's super is not very effective they make incredible medics with their invisibility in Nightfalls and Weekly Heroics

    • hunter is good for atheon, if you're being teleported because of gg. my main is a hunter, but i'm switching to a warlock. i don't need the gg to kill things. i rather just circulate orbs for everyone so we all can revive ourselves or throw defender orbs up.

      • I think that the crucible designer wanted to make a class and they gave him hunter. The damage is just enough to one shot people in PVP and thus they give you a lot of hits. Where as the others are overkill in PvP but do good damage on dungeons.

      • You have to know what you're doing to be a great hunter in end game content. My armor and agility are decent on my character, as well as my defense. I can take hits. And every time I super enemies in the VOG, I spawn 5 - 8 orbs. It's about knowing what to do. Not all hunters are useless.

        • I wouldnt say Hunters are easy, but we definitely dont have a crutch for PVE. If we make a mistake, we die. We don't res or pop a shield to save ourselves. I like that challenge of having to play well. I do see how other people may be wary to accept Hunters in their group when they have an alternative option. I will save my two raid squads do enjoy having me around, however that may be more teamwork/skill based then class based.

        • We're excellent add killers, supplicants and oracles go down easily for us, think of hunters as support damage. Agility isn't the most useful stat, but it gives us more ability to outflank and position ourselves much better.

          • I agree with everything you said. After creating my warlock I resized how hunters are truly just a pvp class and are literally useless in high level pve. 2 golden gun shots to take down one Oracle? You wasted your time in that animation your equipped guns will do better.

            I guess the main reason why us hunters aren't welcome in most VOG fireteams is because they haven't got the ability to push either the Templar or Atheon of the edge. Guess this will be fixed sooner or later. Besides that, the most useful hunter subclass (Gunslinger) in VOG Hard lacks an escape button/ability. We have no Ward of Dawn or Self Ressurection. I would sign for some sort of Vanish ability (like the Rogue class from WoW had).

              • Hunter has the least height and length out of all 3 classes jumps. Hunter has the worst grenades for dps. Can't say much more than that... Hunters "triple jump" is lower than its "higher double jump" height wise. Buff our nades!

                  Psh.. no other class can be the last of the ninja cowboys. And I do just bloody fine on raid hard. Who make the best relic holders? Slow as snail titans? Warlocks with sunsinger? So they can drop relic twice? No man, hunters are the chosen relic holders of power we dodge and move and speed through portals before any one can say "who looked up my skirt?!" ;)

                    What's wrong with CoW? When I am playing PvE with my GS subclass, I almost always have CoW stacked 3x. Then again, I tend to use scout rifles over anything else.... I could see the problem with auto rifles. But they are autorifles.... /e as far as golden gun... i use it to get me out of sticky situations with non bosses. It can take down a minotaur uber fast with AE to take down the shield. On templar I like to use it to drop orbs right at the relic holders feet. On portals, 4 shots, 4 oracles. Are there any supers that work really well on bosses? I legitimately don't know, because I don't have much experience with warlock, and I'm not about to hulk smash strong bosses.

                      I rather enjoy hunters precision focused traits. It makes the job of clearing oracles or supplicants extremely quick. If you combine shooting skill with a hunter you get a fast loading, headshot machine. Sure you can't revive yourself or shield your teammates but you have the unique ability to get around and eliminate key targets. Let the mages and the tanks handle the big dumb monster, you stand between them and the hoards with nothing but a quick hand and a sharp blade.

                        as a lvl 29 hunter I unfortunately agree :/ there is pretty much nothing a hunter can do (that has any use) that a warlock or a titan can't do. The only use for golden gun is indeed killing oracles. On bosses, my ice breaker does about twice the damage of golden gun. As for blade dancer, using that in hard vog is suicide, even in tiger strikes you got a good chance of getting murdered even on foes such as minotaurs or knights. The only useful thing blade dance has is invisibility, that one is useful for reviving teammates. If gunslinger had a skill like chain of woe that increases damage we'd have some use. Say precision HITS increase damage by 5%, stacks up to 3 times. This would be a great skill for endgame content.

                      • Hunters are probably the best combat rezzers, and provide other great things. A lot of other classes abilities suffer from the same circumstances that you mention.

                        • Sadly I have to basically agree with this. Hunter for me is the most fun to play, it also plays the smoothest imo as far as gunplay and movement goes. Unfortunately, like every agility/blade/dagger/stealth/quickness class in mmo history, they are f***ed in endgame. Just seems to be how it is or they end up too overpowered in general. This shouldn't be the case in a shooter like this because there are no definitive class roles, but the current mechanics of this raid, and again sadly, most current boss fights in Destiny make the skills of the Hunter very weak over taking another class in the spot. Hopefully the expansions have some content that allows them to be used differently, but if that leaked 3rd subclass is for real, then Hunters are screwed for pve choice for those looking to maximize return for effort. Not that any Hunter cant carry their weight, but not to the extent of another class. To anyone who has played a rogue or stealther in mmo's in the past, same shit.
