...that Destiny's story was changed late last year, but what if there was plenty more changed?
This video a friend shows me goes back through all of Bungie's Destiny videos and shows us what has been cut or drastically changed from the current retail version we have.
-Armor and Weapons didn't have level reqs, just Weapon/Armor level that scaled the weapon/Armor effectiveness to that player's level.
-Legendaries and Exotics dropped at ANY POINT IN THE GAME, scaling with player level.
-Weapon upgrade trees were much different and there wasn't any need for farming for resources or ascendant materials, and they had better upgrades.
-Factions seemed to play a bigger role in the game overall.
-The Reef was a fully rendered play area in-game as a possible safe haven space like the Tower.
-Both Saturn and Mercury were also fully rendered in-game. (There wasn't any footage of actually being on-planet.)
So what the hell happened? Destiny got a major reworking prior to us getting the game, so it is essentially NOT the game they were selling us from the beginning...
What happened to the REAL DESTINY?

Joe Staten the original writer walked before the game was completed. Rumour has it management was apprehensive about the complex story with numerous cutscenes he had written into the game. They believed it would put people off buying the game. Its obvious what we have now was put in at the eleventh hour. It is also insulting that Bungie think every FPS gamer is a brainless teen who lack the concentration span for a decent story.

There were a lot of storys told over cut content, lack of story and gameplay to frighten the customers ... But u dont hear them often lately cause the customers are frightened already ...
-
Activision and their DLC/expac plans... Which probably pissed joe staten off to the point of leaving, which led to this game being a confused flaccid luke warm baby donkey dick of a game
-
The lead designer left, he had copyright on everything, bungie had to change it last minute
-
Someone needs to curb check Activision..... I'm think master chief would be up to it.....
-
Why are these posts still happening? Get over it.
-
Great game that was originally a whole lot better. Such a shame.
-
The truth about destiny Activision took bungies game and did what they do. They will make 3 games for $60 a piece, each with 2-3 dlc packs for $20, and the dlc will be reused and resold for the next games. They've done it with CoD for 10 years and people keep buying, so there doing what makes them the most money.
-
10 years project ? <_< HAHAHAHA Lets change that to 1 or 2 years project because in the near future, more awesome games will be released.
-
Activision happened
-
They couldn't finish it and opted to release it over time than to push it back. I like this better. I detest when games get pushed back. *cough* Elder Scrolls Online *cough* Though that's for a different reason.
-
there isn't one memorable story mission which really -blam!-ing sucks
-
You choose

Its probably very hard to make a great open (not i get killed all the time faling of the cliffs) world. They could have looked at skyrim or fallout 3. I had lots of fun there. This game is fun but too predictable.
-
Yawn*
-
Well, you can't bring on every decision changing the game design during the development process of a game to be "lost" and "should be part of the real game". Things change a lot during 5 years of development and some changed for the good of it!

Edited by DicloniusLucy: 10/25/2014 7:36:01 PMyou could say its....DESTINY...was altered
-
*insert obligatory Activision blame here* Now, keep in mind, they said Destiny would be a 10 year project. Things are going to change.
-
Anybody who has been paying attention to Destiny knows a ton of content was cut. Not only was it cut but this content which is not available in game was used for marketing and creating sales. I guarantee ActiVision and Bungie will be sued for false advertising. Lying, cheating, dirty big cooperations make me ill.
-
Im pretty confused about that as well, and extremely let down by this product. To those who think "it will be", why does bungie expect you to wait 10 years for a game you are proud of? Release = product. DLC = Expansion on product. Not the other way around.
-
People only think of things like this as one sided. cut content. we don't know the real story on why story was left out or if it was even left out in the first place, maybe all those trailers and sneak peeks where showing off a bit of the future expansions.
-
The first three ideas look awful. It's a better game without those particular ideas.
-
A friend of mine thinks that these posts are getting old, and we should all move on with our lives happy that we got 80+ hours out of the game.
-
Game is like a 1999 ford Taurus, a terrible money pit
-
And the end the story was that the trailer and the speaker are with with the darkness and hive wanted to revive it and the black garden was inside the traveler
-
Most of what you said is true, can we do anything about it now aside from not supporting the game any longer.... No.
