Bee Gone! Using different Modem/Router

I tried something this weekend that I said I was not going to do (if it aint broke don't fix it) but I was really frustrated by not being able to play 6v6 crucible and getting KTO from the tower all the time (mostly bee error but I have seen others). I tried setting up my home network with a standard netgear DGN router from my old ISP and it appears to have worked - I played several sessions of more than 2 or 3 matches over the weekend where I was previously lucky to have even completed one match. In fact, I have not had a single disconnect since swapping over. My BB is not the best but it has been enough (DSL, 5D, 0.4U) since I changed my ISP recently owing to some devious throttling at peak times by my old ISP. I have an XOne with a static IP, wired connection, port forwarding, all that jazz. I set up the old modem on my current home network in exactly the same way. My new ISP, although much much better in terms of service, have this thing where they use some of the connection to create a BB hotspot, for anoyone to use, on an unsecured seperate wireless signal (I only recently found out). This is not meant to affect your own network, and your own traffic is meant to be prioritised (I don't have an issue with this in principle). You can opt out of this service or just use a third party modem since it can only be piped through their own branded dual band device. I would be surprised if anyone used my network as a hotspot anyway since I live in the middle of nowhere. Nevertheless, it must have been this or the difference in firmware between modems that has caused issues for me connecting or staying connected to destiny servers. I only post this in the hope that someone else may find it useful; if you have an old modem laying around but like me have been reluctant to try - it might just be worth a shot.

  • Did all of the above in my case. I went through re-cap 3 modems/routers ubee 2 types cisco, 3 routers Net gear wnr2200, lynksys E1200, and DDTrw on e1200. Did all the router setups dmz forward triggering direct conection on bridged modem but nothing seemed stable. Then a patch came and all was well.... But wait for it. Running on cisco modem / router combo 200 mbps down 90 mbps up last 3 weeks and worked until the psn maintenance last week. Since then every error i ever got has come and gone again. Today especially Is totally unplayable. Cattle and caterpillar with one ps4 on my network and bee when my 2 ps4 is logged on. Friday was anteater and leopard day to the same result but saterday and sunday were error free except for my girlfriend getting stuck on a load point she could move her character and load inventory just could not walk. We can laugh things like that off. But come on fix the real kicking issues. So kinda needed to get that off my chest.
