No game chat in Crucible? Why not??

Does anyone know why Bungie did this and whether or not they are going to change this? It's a huge detriment to the experience not being able to communicate with teammates. I think people are so much worse in Crucible than they should be for this very reason. When you can't tell a player to stop pushing, or stick with the team, or back off/run away, it just ruins the experience. Even when you don't know the players and they aren't your friends it would help with teamwork so much if you could put together a game plan and actually execute it as a team. Even if some players don't have Mics they could still hear call outs and instruction from other players. Crucible would be so much more fun if we could actually communicate with everyone.

  • I would go along with that. Make everyone muted by default unless a person explicitly opts to turn on the chat option with the ability to mute individual players. Although many will not opt in and still won't be able to hear anyone talk, it's at least better than nothing.. I guess.

    • Because, according to Bungie, communication is ultra important in Destiny... unless you're playing team based games in PVP, that is.

    • Along with all the positive comes a lot of negative. While I agree that the positives are really important, there's this thing about kids and adults who think they are the best and talk tons of demeaning and harmful trash talk. Cyber bullying is a big deal and people do it all the time. Bungie, I believe was trying to make the experience somewhat safe in that regard. I know that there will be those saying mute works too and so on, but that isn't really going to solve anything. It simply will tick people just like the raid without mics. There is no good answer for this, but I've heard Bungie is going to implement an opt in option for mics in crucible, which is at least an effort to appeal to both sides of the issue.
