Ex WoW players love Destiny, FPSers love to hate it!
Is it just me, or is your opinion of Destiny directly related to your perspective? I've found that people that come from MMOs like WoW are extremely happy with what destiny has to offer (i.e. end-game raiding and PvP) and want more of the same; while people who came from other console FPS games aren't satisfied with the depth of the story or other PvP (weapon balance) aspects of the game. What do you think?

Agreed. I get bored with COD. Played WoW for years, since Vanilla. Did get tired of the expansions and how bad the community got over the years. (Damn Chinese kids) I do think destiny has some issues it needs to work out. But I think it will start coming together over time. I think one thing they could do like in WoW, is removing ascendance shards from gear. Just like adding the jewels and removing. Find it annoying to grind for 20+ shards for one item then boom need another 20 because raid gear finally dropped and I'm starting all over.

I'm an ex-WoW player and would like to point out that fps players have no patience. They never knew what it was like to wait for the TLPD.

I think I am an amalgam of both as I could care less about PvP and think the weapon & armor tables there need to be walled off from PvE like any other good MMO. I also think we received a shell of what we were told this game would be and Bungie's focus has not been on fixing it or offering us new content but slowing the progression of players through the levels/endgame.

I've put at least 300+ hours into every CoD since Modern warfare and I've played more Oblivion and Skyrim than my wife looked me to admit! This game is great and i couldn't be happier with the 100+ hours i have already sunk into it 😆

I feel a fourth poll option is needed here. My first real addiction was Oblivion (500+ hours), followed by Skyrim (400+ hours on first play through, 300+ on second) In between them, I was hooked on Bad Company. In fact, I'd still be playing it if the servers weren't taken down. I have no use for CoD or any Battlefield games after Bad Co. That franchise progressively morphed into CoD. I love my shooters, but I stick to campaign and hardly ever touch the MP. The only MMO I've played was Runescape, and that was when the subprime mortgage bubble burst, crashed the economy, and I found myself without a job. I found a new job, and haven't logged onto Runescape since. All things considered, I guess I'm not really an FPS or MMO creature. But I can say this...GRINDING SUCKS! The only reason I continue to do it is that I preordered the season pass along with the game. After I get the DLC, it's totally up to Bungie whether I keep playing or not. It's about ROI for me. If I pour retarded amounts of time into a videogame I'd better be getting concrete, measured results and not be at the mercy of the RNG.

I played WoW for years, do I love Destiny, no, it's alright but end game is pathetic. As an FPS fan am I happy, yeah it plays wonderfully. The game overall disappoints, it really does feel like we have all been sold half a game, if that.

FPS players don't like it most likely because it's something they didn't expect, they were probably looking for more gun play of course, instead of everyone using special abilities and such. MMO players enjoy it because of all the abilities, because when using teamwork a combination of everyone's abilities is almost unbeatable. And If you play any team based MMO you're all about that life. In short Destiny is more a lore filled RPGMMO than a pew pew bang bang shooter and I guess all of the cod/Battlefield lovers can't get into it as much. As for me I'm a jack of all trades too and I -blam!-ing love this game!

I'm kinda both. Doom and Everquest were my first games of each genre. Still waiting for a AAA title that can properly combine the open world and FPS aspects. Here's to hoping for a Shadowrun revival!!!

I love this game and I usually play FPS, however I also enjoy depth of story like in Bethesda games! So I can say that lack of in game lore is a bit upsetting.

2 RepliesHonestly my first mmo was runescape but I love games with story. Mass effect is like my baby, I have every dlc for every game and I love it. When I heard destiny's story I was sweeeeeet and they got me hooked. I just got very disappointed by the lack of actual story expressed in game

Edited by Ryked: 10/19/2014 9:18:05 PMI've played WoW for 3 years, not as long as some players, but I am used to seeing players with better weapons than me, and I respect them for it because they've put a lot of effort into getting those things, so PvP is almost the same as WoW for me, except it's a shooter. Story, it's there and has depth, but it could have been presented a little better, I don't know how it was in the early days of WoW, but when I started, the story pulled me in right a way.

3 RepliesI wasnt a WoW fan, but definetly an Everquest junkie, and a CoD fan. I really enjoy this game, I think its the best of both worlds. Maybe I get good drops because the game knows I like it, and don't bash it on a public forum lol!
