Iron banner is supposed to be the most authentic and challenging PvP game type, but this is completely broken when players quit the match.
The remedy is simple, hand out ten minute Iron Banner bans to people who return to orbit. If they are disconnected because of a networking issue on their end, it gives them a good 10 minutes to sort things out.
Edit: I would like to point out that Bungie's last game had this feature, and it was the greatest thing ever.
Edit 2: don't be petty and mock stats, or at least click on my profile and check them out first.

I wish it was like Halo2..where if you do bad your rank goes down. Oh wait..that might cause horrible kids to make another thread..Adapt or Die..don't rely on a Patch or Die mentality.
-
When people stop playing tdm on control mode then I'll stop quitting. No sense in playing when everyone is doing their own thing.

Edited by PUPPETlubeAGAIN: 10/10/2014 2:47:16 AMQuit bitching about people quitting you god damn child. Who are you or bungie to give out in game punishments. Try not sucking so hard and your team won't quit
-
This is a stupid idea. If I'm losing I'm not sticking around for NOTHING IN ITEM DROPS.
-
Or just add rep in for losing lol
-
Really its pointless for anyone who wants to get to 30.

This AMAZING idea fails to point out the #1 reason why people are quitting mid game left and right. There simply isn't a want to stay in a game where you're wasting 15 mins of your time in a losing battle with Suros/Mythoclast-wielding teams with not a single step forward towards the item you're working your ass off to get. So weigh in the fact that not only is this a grotesquely time-consuming process (you manage to reach rank 1, good luck because prepare to have to win 48 more matches to reach rank 2. And if each match is roughly 15 mins, then 15 by 48, you're looking at around 12 hrs worth of straight grinding just to get to the second rank if you're not doing the bounties with it) to put in all your skill just to be wrecked by those who were lucky enough to get these over-the-top exotics, but everytime you lose its as if you never played that match to begin with. No one goes to the iron banner for crucible marks, no one. They can simply go to the crucible and have a better time there knowing that they're still going to get what they came for just for putting in effort and working as a team. This event is terribly flawed due to one simple factor of giving everyone a chance at obtaining something thats limited to a time strain which not everyone is fortunate enough to meet. And THAT is the reason why so many continue to quit in mid battle. Bungie neglects this fact and the players suffer for it. Not just you, but those who are forced to leave prematurely also. Lets be honest, if they could still leave with at least 5 reps, the drop out rate would be considerably less to the point where you wouldn't even notice if someone dropped out. But what the most agonizing part about this whole thing is.... it only lasts a week. Do not forget that people actually have lives outside of Destiny. Work, Spouses, Children, etc. Not everyone has the time to commit to something like that.

They should only do this if they eliminate the mid game join.

One quit shouldn't give a penalty. Multiple should. I understand that a lot of people are upset that losing doesn't get you anything, but that's a pretty bad excuse for a gametype that is about being the best. I like how it only gives you reputation if you win. It's incentive to try. Rather than a timeout, it could also work if you lost a few reputation for quitting more than a few times each days.
-
If there were any compensation for the losing team, people wouldn't be quitting when the team is losing. Vanguard rep doesn't count. They should at least have some Iron Banner rep they earn. The losing teams are pretty much referred to like the Chicago Cubs. Try as hard as you want, but you didn't get jack squat for your efforts! Don't worry, kids. You'll get them next year. If you end up on a losing team enough times, you really don't care what the game has to offer. If it were more in line with kids sports, everyone would receive something for their effort. But no. The losing teams screen might as well say in its best Shao Kahn voice, "YOU WEAK, PATHETIC FOOL"!™. Wait, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, the weather is nice.
-
Yeah no. Iron banner needs an incentive to actually stay for the game even if you lose. By not gaining any reputation for both ways, nobody wants to stay when they know they'll lose. Of you gained something like 10 points for losing, that would make it worth staying. That's how you fix the problem.
-
The quit out in Iron Banner is mostly on Bungie if you ask me. It's a limited event, and gaining rep is grindy. Simple fix is handing out rep for losses as well. Giving players +10 or +5 rep for a loss would effectually stop most of the quit outs.
-
Must be a Xbox thing. All matches on ps4 today have been full no quiters
-
its simple time in for reward out math, 12-15 mins for that match for avg 30 rep out, 7 mins into a game down by 3000 other team well and truly on top? yep time to quit. no reward no reason to play.
-
What a horribly stupid idea.
-
Gee whiz, you're so smart! You should be President, you know exactly whats wrong and how to fix it! People disconnected because of our servers? Not wanting to finish the match because we decided they get no reputation for losing? Lets give them a 10 minute timeout and actively discourage them from playing our game! Thatll show those loser -blam!-s.
-
I quit when the other team is full of Mythoclasts. No reason to even put yourself through that.
-
Add a ranking system like 1-50 from halo that should help solve the problem
-
Iron Banner quitting (and in crucible overall) is a huge issue - I hope they deal with it.
-
Why dicourage people that might have a techincal issue with game itself? I have a 50 mbps down and 5 mbps up coneection and I still have connection issues from time to time and I should have to sit out because of that? I get punishing chonic quitters like halo did but c'mon this is just ridiculous. i mean what about games where your whole team is at a disadvantage i didn't do that the game's match making system. I say say lock any XP or rewards for a couple of games that might work.
-
A lot of people quit because of cheaters using aimbots and hacktoolz. Armour that barely gets scratched, shields that don't go down and OP weapons. Now that I know these cheatwarez exist I'm staying away from crucible and iron banner. I figure what's the point. Let the cheaters have that part of the game. I'll just do whatever else there is to do while cheaters live their MLG fantasies. VtxR - PS3
