If the whole team stays despite losing by a decent amount(which is rare), I will stay in the match. But if 2 or more people on my team leave I will too. There is literally no reason to stay at that point. I get that this is supposed to be like a more "hardcore" version of the Crucible, but this seems like an obvious flaw that should have been accounted for. Leave the masses to their own devices and they do stupid stuff like this. Maybe getting 5 rep for wearing the shader and 5 for wearing the emblem even though you lost. Just..... something....

I say you should get rep (like 1 or 2) for each kill plus rep if you win
-
The medallions of iron make up for it

You get a medallion which with tempering is more than you would get for a win without tempering

U didn't earn the rep. That's what bungie intended for iron banner. If u lost u didn't strategize or plan out what to do. Iron banner is like league in black ops 2. U have to get at least a full fire team, don't be afraid to add randoms. Help them help u. There r times when u go up against people that u r better then them, but if there r better than u, u got to strategize against them. And if people rage quit, There just bad at the game. If u follow them, ur no better then them. If u do want some rep ur solution would work, but it ends today. Just keep trying.

Good, that just makes it faster for us more Superior players to get our rep and get moving onto the next slaughter. "Look up little Guardian, your day to rise up and become Legend like the rest of us may come sooner than you know... or maybe not, you might just end up laying back in the dust like the others who have fallen before me and my squad. Farewell guardian and may the Traveler be with you."

If your team losses you get an iron medallion. You can have up to five iron medallions on one character. The next game you win, the game automatically redeems the medallions for (if you've don't the NF) 44 reputation each. For the win you get 55 (with NF) so leaving actually costs you more reputation than if you had stayed and lost. Also losing after you have 5 medallions will wind up costing you rep because you can't have more than 5 of them at one time.

Edited by Transientmind: 10/9/2014 10:32:28 AMHeh. Just like the loot cave and sharding Queen's Wrath epix, they once again fail to understand the raw power of human pursuit of the path of least resistance.

You... Do realize that you still get an Iron Medallion, right? They DO give losing some significance. I mean, when you have the emblem, the shader, and 5 medallions, then you win? That's like, a mega-boost of rep right there. Plus, if you stick around to the end you could actually get a weapon. Don't like it? Re-roll it. I'd take that over quitting to quickly get to the next game.

Medallion of iron was introduced last ib for people such as you and others.

I say ban them all together... The Iron Banner is no place for quitters...

at least 1 rep just for showing up
-
I'll just leave every -blam!-ing game where they don't play like you should play a controll match..thanks to bungieni don't give a shit anymore and will use everything in my favor -blam!- it

IMO yet another glimps into the lack of thought put into content.

You get what 25pts if you win they should make it 13pts if you lose then

I can see the amount of distain towards the quitters of the Iron Banner is apparent, but no one's truly understanding WHY these people are doing this. I said this in another thread, I'll share it here. The idea of punishing the quitters fails to point out the #1 reason why people are quitting mid game left and right. There simply isn't a want to stay in a game where you're wasting 15 mins of your time in a losing battle with Suros/Mythoclast-wielding teams with not a single step forward towards the item you're working your ass off to get. So weigh in the fact that not only is this a grotesquely time-consuming process (you manage to reach rank 1, good luck because prepare to have to win 48 more matches to reach rank 2. And if each match is roughly 15 mins, then 15 by 48, you're looking at around 12 hrs worth of straight grinding just to get to the second rank if you're not doing the bounties with it) to put in all your skill just to be wrecked by those who were lucky enough to get these over-the-top exotics, but everytime you lose its as if you never played that match to begin with. No one goes to the iron banner for crucible marks, no one. They can simply go to the crucible and have a better time there knowing that they're still going to get what they came for just for putting in effort and working as a team. This event is terribly flawed due to one simple factor of giving everyone a chance at obtaining something thats limited to a time strain which not everyone is fortunate enough to meet. And THAT is the reason why so many continue to quit in mid battle. Bungie neglects this fact and the players suffer for it. Not just you, but those who are forced to leave prematurely also. Lets be honest, if they could still leave with at least 5 reps, the drop out rate would be considerably less to the point where you wouldn't even notice if someone dropped out. But what the most agonizing part about this whole thing is.... it only lasts a week. Do not forget that people actually have lives outside of Destiny. Work, Spouses, Children, etc. Not everyone has the time to commit to something like that.

You sir are a selfish, bitch of a gamer. I had two matches in a row where my entire team left me after going down by only 2000 points at the start. I stayed and ended up getting a better score than most of the enemy team. Ya it sucks, but I refuse to be one of those little bitches that make me so mad when they leave. It's a principle thing for me. If I'm gonna prove myself in the crucible, I'm not gonna do it by hoping to go up against shitty players.
-
Rep is earned so retardedly slow anyway. No rep for a loss in Iron Banner? Count me out from the start. Doesn't really matter anyway. No shader or ship or legendary or exotic is going to make the game fun. Because the game is just repetetive crap.
-
I understand why Bungie chose to have only wins count, but as the OP stated if there is no incentive to stay players won't waste their time. The iron banner is the only place I have won by forfeit, because my team was ahead and the other team bailed. I don't blame them, as they would have just wasted their time and ours. If Bungie wants players to actually give their all, there's must be honor in defeat, otherwise they will find a new front in which they can dominate.
-
Edited by Saxifraga: 10/9/2014 8:38:09 PMThese Bungie guys are idiots and no game developers. They have no clue how to build RNG loot tables that adapt to your rank and situation and how to give incentives to play it the way they want it to be played. They are just hard core assholes who want to penalize you. What a retarded game play concept.
-
The worst thing is I've played games which if people stay can be turned around despite being way behind...on this mode tho people quit due to no rep for losses and then its impossible to win.
-
For one I've played a 4v6 and won in iron banner . Sure losing someone hurts you but you can still win and if you lose someone right away then don't bother staying in. They made people who won get reputation for as reason or else it would be way to easy to get the reputation you need to buy stuff
-
Ya, this is another shining example of something that Bungie could have made great but these little issues cause it to be mediocre. With the queens wrath being ruined and Iron Banner not being as gear dependent as lead on, along with the "if you lose you don't get shit" mentality I'm starting to lose hope that Bungie can turn destiny around
-
Basically, Iron Banner is even more of a joke than regular PvP. Im honestly AMAZED ar the pure idiot who failed to think the rewards system through for both Crucible and IB. Seriously Bungie, we've been asking for a fix to PvP and you just go release an event without even addressing this issue. Good job Bungie. How bout you let me take over the game development? Im pretty sure anyone will have more common sense than you do. This is just embarrassing, especially for a company like bungie.
