One of my biggest issues with Destiny, one unfortunately under discussed, is its post-lvl20 leveling system. After level 20, the only way to rank up is to find gear with a higher "light" level than what you previously have equipped. This means that you HAVE to have this gear equipped, despite any bad stats it may have, so long as you want to gain a higher level. As a warlock, I like to increase my "intellect" and "discipline," while perhaps sacrificing possible defense or strength. Or perhaps I just like the look of some awesome new coat I obtained. Unfortunately, if it has a lower light level than gear that would be my second choice gear, then the second choice gear becomes the first, and vice versa. This is really broken and distasteful. I feel that with or without the current leveling system, people would still always want new, better gear, so I really do not see the purpose of how it currently is. It seems like Bungie tried to create a new and improved way to level up in a game, but ultimately was a bad idea and really detracts from the game experience.
Do you agree? Don't agree? Any suggestions for how to fix?

I like the light but at the same time yes i get agrivated that i have to hold onto old gear just so i can switch back to my higher level when i go to raids wish they would set a light level per equip not upgrade

It is good in theory. But I agree most of the low level gear has better design. This setup makes it frustrating when trying to design a character that I like & finding the stats that fit my style of gameplay.
