Alright, so there has been no end to people complaining about the game being carved up, stuff being removed for DLC, etc. Most of it I agree with, but I'm still enjoying Destiny.
Now, I've known there's Playstation exclusive stuff. I get it, you don't like Microsoft and Sony/Activision threw a bunch of money at you. (So you immediately go and sign up with Activision after getting out of your MS contract? But that's another rant.)
But an entire Strike?
Let me get this straight. You're punishing your paying customers by withholding content in a game where lack of content is one of the largest complaints, simply because they're playing your game on a system made by a company you're a bit butt-flustered with and are open to taking a bit of cash to mess with?
You're mad at someone, so you take it out on those loyal to you?
That's pretty messed up.
When you're creating a game, you need to be asking yourself "does this thing I am investing effort in benefit the players." And if the answer is "no" - as is the case here - then there is no reason you should be doing it.
None.
Edit: For those asking, the strike is Dust Palace on Mars.
Edit 2: Since apparently some people still think the console wars are a thing, I'll add that this post is not about Xbox being better or deserving anything; it is not about us vs you or we get this exclusive and you get this exclusive. I would be making this post no matter which console I personally play on. We are all gamers. I do not segregate based on platform, gender, race or creed and neither should you.
This post is about excellent developers wanting to create excellent products for their excellent customers. It is about the growing acceptance of developers intentionally going the extra mile to do things that very specifically are not in their customers' best interests.
Edit 3: Alright, this post has kinda blow up and there are a couple common themes I'll address here rather than constant replies:
1) "But Bungie already sold out with Halo being XBox exclusive, this is just more of the same!"
No, it's actually not. Now, I'm going to have to swallow my pride here, because as a long time PiD-Marathon-Myth Bungie Mac fanboy, I was pissed at the time. But at the end of the day, it was done with us, the customers, in mind.
With the funding they received from Microsoft, they were able to turn their small but impressive MacWorld demo into a full fledged, gorgeous game. And (while it pains me to say it) with the newly emerging Xbox console, they were able to reach a fan base far greater than they ever would have on the Mac.
Compare that to the "exclusive" content here. We have stuff developed and then roped off for half of the player base, for no reason from the customer's standpoint. We have zero benefit here. Bungie is now a well established company. They are backed with hundreds of millions. The additional cash provided by small exclusivity bonuses no doubt had little bearing on the final product that is Destiny. This is the difference. This is the problem.
2) "PS4 deserves it, go suck a nut you Xbaby"
I already covered this, but apparently people don't read? Maybe if I type it twice.
We're all in this together, guys. We don't need to segregate ourselves into petty communities based on the logo on the front of our plastic box. We're all gamers, and we all want the best experience possible. So drop the juvenile tough guy act. Sonic and Mario put aside their differences ages ago, you can too.
Edit 4: TL;DR
"Console exclusive stuff is just how it works, what can we do about it?"
We can let the people making the games know that we don't appreciate being carved into groups and set against each other like a corporate dog fight. We can voice our opinions on forums meant for feedback, like these ones right here.
Edit 5: BEHOLD, the Ball-Pit Echo-Chamber. Should you find your comments enclosed within its walls, then I fear you have missed the point of this thread entierly.

Grasp at the netting and fight for air; there are those of us who would assist you in escaping its confines, should you so allow us.
If you need proof of the divided community that these sort of things create, you need look no further than the replies to this post.

Xbox will get all the exclusive stuff in the fall
-
Thread is from October...... Old news people
-
Speak to sony
-
I would like to state that the Dust Palace blows lol, i hate getting that strike with 3 flayers as a final boss is just annoying. But for real i feel ya bro thats not cool everyone should get as much diversity in there strike grinding as possible. Mixing it up helps
-
I was kinda annoyed at one point, but honestly if they want to make Omnigul a PS exclusive retroactively, I wouldn't mind. ;)
-
Id like to state a fact. Us Sony followers might have played cod over the years before destiny but have you ever wondered why xbox get DLC first. Is it because they pay you money or is it because they hate us that much. How about a deal. Xbox get cod. Playstation get destiny. As I here. More 10 years old on xbox playing cod then there is on ps.
-
I don't see why Xbox players spend the same amount for a DLC and we're not given equal content. Shame on you Bungie, it's called sharing
-
I would trade the 2 strikes, and the 3 guns any day of the week for the entire halo franchise.
-
Yes I'm tired of PlayStation exclusives.
-
Get a playstation 4, problem solved. Nothing to bitch about.
-
Shut up, Meg.
-
Honestly the strike is my least favorite strike and takes forever and isn't fun
-
Sorry what? I couldn't hear over the sound of me polishing my Hawkmoon
-
Played the strikes there is nothing special to them
-
The content is on the disk it's just that bungie hasn't sold you the unlock codes for it yet.
-
Get a Playstation 4.....problem solved

Dust Place is little more than a retread of the Sunken City "Sorry" mission with 1 extra room. It also uses a completely different boss mechanic, 3 bullet sponges that summon endless waves of trash. Which is completely different from Sepics Prime who's a robotic bullet sponge summoning endless waves of trash. Which is also very different from Nexus where you have a bio mechanical bullet sponge summoning endless waves of trash. Lets not forget the fall of Winter boss, he's a Fallen bullet sponge who summons endless waves of trash.

After all the XBOX exclusives, Fallout DLC, Skyrim DLC and COD DLC. PS users waited months, an entire year (Skyrim) to get these exclusives and you're bitching about one map??? You know, I've seen very, very few XBOX fans come to the defense of PS users not getting the content, mostly braggers.. But, I will be one of the few this time, because this IS bullshit. This timed exclusive, just anything multiplatform exclusive stuff needs to end. XBOX players, just as PS players deserve what they've paid for. Which developer will be the first to stand up and admit how wrong this is. This is one of the first communities, where I read the forum and don't see just some console fanboy. Maybe, for this game, we don't want to be so divided. Give Xbox players the strike. -PS4 User

Still a game without good content that isnt buggy to shit.
-
Sony paid more end of story
-
Whoever necro'd this, you're doin gods work son
-
Edited by SugaComa: 1/26/2015 11:50:24 AMYour edit about bungie being an established company backed by millions Yes Sony's millions that paid for the content to be developed for both PlayStation And Xbox in agreement that some if that content would be time released for Xbox So you still have it you still got the stuff thanks to Sony you just can't have it yet.
-
We have the undying mind as well from TDB. So 2 strikes exclusive as of now. And another one in HoW coming in march...
-
Stop crying the strike sucks anyway nobody likes it.
-
The Dust Palace is my least favorite strike to date. I know "the grass is greener" and you want things that others have when it's not delivered to you as well, but trust me, Xbox actually lucked out when it comes to Dust Palace.
