are loot drops really all that random?

was doing vanguard tiger yesterday on devil's lair, and used arc blade to kill a Wizard that was close to the ground, and it dropped a purple! No way that's completely random, that was deserved :-) I've noticed as well that if you go on patrol, the engrams don't drop for a while, but if you assist another player in a kill, sometimes they drop more frequently, might be imagining things though they've really upped the drop rate on those strikes, later in the same strike a Dreg dropped another purple, and I got I think 3 blues in the screen at the end

  • Well done. they have de randomized the engrams however we don't know exactly what that means.. strikes are now far more effective than loot caves. So in summary, there is still randomness to it... however we are alot happier about the rewards we get now.. hence there is no moaning anymore about the crytarch or engrams or even the lootcave.

    • Mission end reward is still crappy, but ingame loot is not so bad this days, yesterday i've played about 2 hours, some strikes and contracts and got Shadow Price from a purple engram in the moon strike, also a lot of materials, not a bad day after all :)

    • That's not what people are bitching about. It's about post-raid/strike/crucible screens and random rewards. It's about me doing a strike, getting 134 kills, my other two fireteam members getting 64 and 58 and them getting shaders and rare coins while I get blue weapons and other crap. That's what the RNG problem is about.

    • Yeah they randomized it - maybe that´s why i got 6 items for the other classes and 2 materials from my 8 legendary drops in total. And no, mine where earned too. Ridiculous ...
