Living proof a casual can do the Thorn Bounty in PVP.
473 of 500 with Void kills. I thought I would never get this one done because I'm just not an expert player, especially in the Crucible. If it wasn't for Shotguns, crouching to avoid radar detection, and Control the I'd have given up long ago.
This just goes to show you that anyone can do it if they try. I've seen a few posts about the pvp part of this and just trying to say "go for it" to the people upset by having to pvp for an exotic.
..the last part of this lies the true challenge.
EDIT: Old thread is old. This post was to inspire many of those daunted by the pvp version of the Thorn bounty. I went against my playstyle and used a void auto-shotgun and made sure I was covered so I wouldn't die before I killed at least one to three people. Assists count so even spraying could net you points.
Since then I've traded in this game so I was surprised at all the recent replies. I hope this thread still inspires people to go through with this bounty and don't give up. :)

I just did this bounty today, and quite honestly, it's bit that difficult. Pvp in control with a maxed out Atheons epilogue, sword breaker, and wolves bane, is the recipe. This Def makes you a better crucible player. Don't run around the map, stick to less key areas, and just keep at it. I did this with my hunter today, it took me 2 hours to complete the bounty. Check my stats, I'm not the greatest Pvp player, but just focusing on staying alive, and only using void- easier win.

I'm currently doing the Thorn bounty, and I have to say, I'm rather average at PvP (and that's an honest assessment. I'm not a PvP player God by any means). My progress has been slow but steady in the void kills (around 4-8 kills per match and gaining 380 kills total so far) with a 0.8-1.0 K/D ratio. I have been doing this bounty in Control, using my Voidwalker Warlock build using WoC, Swordbreaker or Longbow (depending on the map), and Corrective Measure. At times I felt a little discouraged because of the deaths, and some games almost flinging the controller across the room :p. Some games I rage quitted. Quite a frustrating bounty this has been. I hope I can get the crucible part done soon.

I completed the entire bounty in about 4 hours including xyor and all its super easy and yes shotguns did help a lot in crucible part when ur playing don't think about the bountyanf just do what u gotta do that's what got me through it

That last 30 points took me about another 2 plus hours...I also lost most of my mind and part of my humanity during that time. I started of gaining between 20-40 points per round at the start to 70-90+ at my peak and eventually ended up gaining (-1)-7 points during those last hours... Never again...

10 RepliesSorry to dig up and old thread but I thought I would share my experiences. I am a terrible pvp player. My k/d before starting the bounty was 0.56. And that was rocking The Last Word which is about the only weapon I could consistently get kills with. More than once I have passed on exotic bounties because I am just so bad. I find the skill gap to be the largest of any mp I have ever played. Then I thought I would give the Bad Juju bounty a try and it wasn't too bad. Obviously death doesn't hold you back though. After this (minor) success I decided to give the Thorn bounty a go, though I was far from confident I could possibly get the kills to do it. My only void weapon, not counting heavies, was the Swordbreaker. I am useless with a shotgun in this game, worse than I am with any other gun. But to cut a long story short, I got my 500 void points in 2 days. I played control and camped the B flag in every game I could. I soon realised that a couple if the maps weren't good for me so avoided those and concentrated on maps I knew I could do okay on. At times it was 'through your controller through the TV' annoying but I ground through it. In that whole time my kd went from 0.56 to 0.65 so you don't even have to be setting the world alight to do it reasonably quickly (not quick for some of you gaming ninjas out there, but you know what I mean) I then went on to solo the strike in 2 goes. A friend joined me at the end if the second go. My first effort was nearly done when I panicked when a knight was chasing me and ran too far and reset the strike. I went to bed in disgust. So the morale of the story is, if you are unsure about taking on the bounty, any bounty, give it a go. You just might surprise yourself.

2 RepliesI am a casual player to not a hard core kind of player I perfer having fun over guys that worry about their kd :) pvp is not my thing but I have the thorn bounty so I have to do it any ideas how to get it fast? I'm at pvp part and it's really hard because people use shot guns more then anything

I think I'd rather play with so called casuals because most the hard core players are asshats note I said most not all beside were do you draw the line I would say am not a hardcore player but that doesn't stop me from destroying in PvP cause I can shoot somewhat stright lol

I find it wrong on Bungies part to take away points that I've worked hard to earn in previous matches. I earned 25 point in a match only to lose them all on the next match. It's total BS. They nit pick at the lame problems and not fix this. No wonder people stop playing this game after completing the DLC.

Have a positive k/d higher than 1.0 and you can finish the bounty in 6-7 crucible matches. It's that easy

1 ReplyI see everyone promiting camping and whatnot to get the 500 points. Took me 2hrs with an uncommon void fusion rifle and corrective measure + defender titan. Be fearless and be rewarded.

2 RepliesPvP actually makes me feel ill and I'm definitely not going to play a game I don't enjoy as that's not my definition of a good time. I've had 7 exotic bounties to this date and I've thrown them all away. I really don't see why Bungie have to mix PvE and PvP, I know there's a sizeable population on Destiny who also hate PvP and being forced into it just rankles me big time. Also I'd like to not have my exotic guns nurf'd by PvP players complaining. To those who like PvP.... enjoy, I'm not knocking it, I'm happy for you, really.

Was playing crucible and got this bounty done. None of my friends were online but I didn't want to wait so I go to the forums and make a post. Someone answers, turns I had been playing about the last 4 matches against this person. Just thought it was funny that like 20 mins ago we were fighting in the crucible just to end up working together to get the last step done.
