DLC Can't Wait Until December If Destiny is to Survive

I've been sitting here thinking about my last few days in Destiny and it hit me, yesterday was reset Tuesday. In less than six hours I had 100 Vanguard Marks. I had done the Heroic Daily and Weekly. Nightfall had been attempted but we fell short and will try again later in the week. At 10pm last night i was trying to launch my new rare Sparrow off of rocks to perform flips. I had run out of meaningful things to do. To preface: Most of my friends are not high enough yet to attempt the VoG and I do not want to go with players whose playstyles I am unfamiliar with. The daily bounties have grown stale, the desire to get yet another 200 Fallen headshots for the Queen is simply not there. I am getting bored, quickly. I will make the very occassional jaunt into the Crucible for some abuse but apart from exploring and finding the two missing Golden Chests and some dead ghosts, I don't have much to play for. Destiny needs more content. Argue over the lack of depth to the story or whatever you want to do but Destiny is starting to lose its grip on my attention. I have Diablo III on the shelf and it is calling my name. Borderlands is about to drop for 360. New Assassin's Creed games are on the way. Super Smash Bros for my 3DS hits Friday. I am not sure that Destiny's player base will survive November. (Edit: I mean survive in a way that allows Activision to meet its profit projections and continue 10 years of support for the IP long term) The single best way for Destiny to hold its players would be to get the first Expansion out at the same time as MMC and not wait for a month to go by.

Personally, I don't like the idea of having to pay for a DLC on a game that feels lacking in content. If it were an upcoming, free update I think there'd be significantly less complaints. Also, I imagined a lot more exploration would be available and that it would take place in a livelier, less sterile world. I believe that if Bungie wants to retain their user base for this game they need to act quick. New games are coming out soon and that essentially marks the window of time that constitutes a gamer's attention span. That being said, I think the game looks beautiful, and the gameplay mechanics are superb, I've had a lot of fun playing this game with my friends making our own adventures out of it, and still have hope that it will improve.
