I was at 180 marks at the end of Monday and yesterday earned "23" marks out of 100 for the week. Now I have "200" marks.
I come on the forums to learn that you are not allowed more than 200 at one time, but nowhere in game does it ever explain this.
Not only this, but somehow you are still "penalized" from your maximum 100 earned for the week? I could have grinded for an entire 100 for the week never knowing I'd stopped at 200, and wasted 80 marks.
This needs to be addressed and I need my 3 marks back. This throws the entire in game math system off. Please respond.

Wish I had seen this earlier. I earned around 35 today before realizing there's a 200 cap. Bungie, how hard is it to include a xxx/200 message? I don't think there's a reason except for laziness and oversight.
-
Anyone know what the max motes of light, strange coins, spinmetal..etc are?
-
Guys please. How difficult would it be to have included a small disclaimer in-game to inform players about caps? It's not user friendly to have to Google search every little thing about the game. The game isn't "How to Destiny."
-
The least the could have done was displayed xxx/200 for marks and xxxxx/25000 for glimmer, imo. Or perhaps slipped it into a grimoire card so at the very least they could cover their ass by saying the information was out there and we should have known better, but they don't have that luxury as far as I know.

A neat kind of resolution that would add replay is to allow the cap to be 600, but you can only earn 200 a week on each character and it is shared amongst all characters

Most MMOs, including World of Warcraft have a mark limit. It will more than likely wipe your current 200 when a new level of gear comes out. These steps are necessary for an even playing field and help to force players to use what they have.

Edited by aboniks: 10/1/2014 3:56:33 PMThat's a stupid cap, Bungie. Capping currency reserves at all is a pointless crippling of players who invest significant time in your world. Stop it. When will I hit my Motes of Light or Strange Coin cap, hmm? How many people will that piss off? Not often do I straight up criticize a design choice, but seriously, why do this, and more to the point why NOT tell us about the cap before we hit it? EDIT: Thanks for the heads up on this Tempest Demon. Saved me some shock and annoyance. Guess I won't be exchanging as many spinmetal for marks and rep as I thought I would be.

Omg, research. And quit asking for stuff back because you were too lazy too research it. No reason to save all those coins anyway. You could have spent them. If you're into min/max so much that you are concerned about the "math" then include the max value into your calculations for the next round.
-
Well you just learned to go spend them lol.. Next
-
Yea I was at 200 before Tuesday so I ended up losing 100.
-
3? Lol I wasted a whole week. 100!!
-
I lost 20 marks yesterday and while it pissed me off i just made sure i wont do it again. There should be something telling you yes but get over it. Lots of others have lost marks from the same thing
-
I feel ya. I probably lost 20+ crucible marks before I realized the cap was 200 :P

I routinely spend my Vanguard marks on legendary equipment, once a week, that I don't need so I can get the 2-3 Ascendant Shards by deconstructing them. An exchange rate of 20-30 marks for one Shard is actually a bit more expensive, it seems, than what I'd thing an exchange rate would be. It does mean I have something to spend excess marks on until I get to Tier 3.

3 marks bro... really? The violin plays for u... quit wining

Edited by Benjii9O: 10/2/2014 8:29:48 AMCould you please explain to me what you're keeping them for? Are they going to be a collectors item one day and be worth 1 million glimmer? NO, they're there to buy things, things that either cost 30,65,150,175 and not anything over 200 so spend them stop being such a whiny little bitch.
-
YES!! Much agreed
-
I just buy like a helmet and get shards from it. so you still 120, that's the maximum price for those anyway.
-
Although it's bullshit it isn't unheard of. MMOs will often cap currency used to buy epic gear on a weekly basis.

Edited by Toddillini: 10/2/2014 10:19:56 AMIts annoying we cant use them in factions though My Vanguard rank isnt high enough so mine will just sit there endlessly
-
I didn't even know this. I knew we couldn't earn more than 100 a week, but a cap of 200 total? Seems a bit harsh.
-
I didn't even know you could max out at 200. I've been maxed out for like a -blam!-ing WEEK.
-
I'm so tired of all these low glimmer and mark caps!

Why the -blam!- aren't you spending them before the cap nothing cost more than 150.
