I suck at Crucible. Not just this game, but any game I have ever played that had PvP. I have never succeeded. I have never hit 50% Kd rate.
So, with Destiny, my goal coming in was to level purely PvE (patrol, strikes, bounties). I am 36 hours and 2 points from level 24.
How far can i take this? Can I get away without ANY PvP?

I'm level 27 without touching PvP, strikes Raid because I have no Xbox Live. I have full purple and one exotic for my armour and working on upgrade, PvP is not needed at all.
-
You can BUT I recommend you to try it. It doesn`t matter if you suck at it. Get a friend or two to join you and just have fun. It seems that every whiner seems to think that bad players get awesome rewards in crucible so be ready to make room in the vault for all your future exotics :D
-
Vanguard bounties level you up quick and unlock upgrades for weapon and armor fast 3 bounties unlocks all upgrades on rare weapon
-
I'm 29 and prefer PvE myself, you can only reach lvl 30 by PvE with raid gear. PvP was put in for those who wanted it, it's only needed for a few exotic bounties otherwise no, you don't need to play it.
-
Totaly possible but limiting yourself to Vanguard marks could stretcg things out.
-
I'm just about to hit 29 and I don't PVP, I tried it for about an hour for an exotic bounty and just gave up. I can't stand the pvp.
-
Up to level 30! No pvp required but pvp will help it go quicker. Playing the same missions and strikes are a bit repetitive.
-
You dont need to pvp just do bounties , and strike to get rep and vangaurd marks this will limit you to vangaurd gear but its good gear save your strange coins for a exotic armor piece and youll be in good shape
-
You can go all the way to 30. Vanguard weapons are excellent, and you can receive faction weapons out of the RNG randomness. I got a Dead Orbit machine gun from a random drop while on patrol.
-
As others have said, yes. But a/ it will take a lot longer (unless you get lucky) and b/ you'll have a worse selection of gear, limited to random drops, your Vanguard shop, and random Xur finds. Keep in mind that the majority of legendary vendors require Crucible marks. Note that you can collect materials (Spinmetal, etc.) and turn it in at Crucible vendors for Crucible marks, and wear a class item from one of the Crucible factions to transfer your rep there. It's technically possible, but really slow: 50 materials for 25 rep and 5 marks, so you'll be doing it for many thousands of materials. I can't imagine actually doing this, but it is theoretically an option. I've been stuck at 25 for ages, and I've finally given in to do Crucible. I'm also terrible at it, and I can't imagine anyone wants me on their team, but the call of level 26+ content beckons, and I don't want to spend tens of hours farming in the hope that I get something.
-
You can even level up your crucible and get crucible marks through farming spin metal, relic iron, spirit blooms, and helium filaments. Just turn them into the crucible quartermaster.
-
Yes, IMO the rewards are worse in PvP and "Raid" gear which is the only gear that can get you to the current max lvl of 30 is from VoG which is obviously PvE. P.S. Iron Banner event will have rewards, if those rewards include gear that can get you to lvl 30 I stand corrected, but that has yet to be confirmed.
-
You can see by my character that PVP is not needed in the slightest. I am a PC FPS not on a console. I admit it, I suck at it, lol. One update away from level 29 with 3 exotic weapons and 2 more exotic bounties waiting on Xur to come back to finish off.
-
I hardly played PVP and made it to LVL 27. Farming is going to be your best friend in PVE
-
I play very very little PVP and I'm level 27.
-
yes you can.
-
Yes. There is even an exotic weapon which does not require PvP. The Pocket Infinity. The highest levels need PVE (raids). So Yes.
-
you can level it up by cashing in any of the resources 50
-
Lvl 26. I've only played one salvage match. But you will have to PVP to complete exotic bounties.
-
i only did crucible when i was bored, but all my items were farmed via PVE
-
Seeing as how you need armor from PvE to hit 30... yes you never have to touch MP
-
Hit 26 before touching crucible... Yes
-
I'm sure you can, it will take you longer if you never touch the crucible. 1. Hit the bounties for vanguard and any others, besides crucible, as much as possible 2. Join a faction and level it up to rank 2/3 so that you can buy legendary stuff 3. Rank up vanguard to 2/3 so that you can buy legendary stuff.
-
So far I'm level 26 and I only played like 10 Crucible matches when the game first came out. I got nothing special from any of it. All of my leveling is due to PvE. I've done a lot of Strikes, bounties, weekly missions, and some of the QW to get legendary gear.
-
I don't believe you need to pvp at all, unless you get an exotic bounty. Even that is not a must. If you are fine with Legendary weapons and getting exotics from the raid, then you shoudl be good.

I barely play any pvp (because od autos) and I've gotten my warlock to level 26 and a hunter to level 24...
