I was tricked by Deej, I was tricked by Bungie-Act but most of all I tricked myself for expecting another masterpiece like Halo. I was concerned when I heard that there was not going to be any reviews done, and damn it I should have listen to my guts because this game although a lot of fun was not worth 60$ maybe 25 the most. I will never purchase another game without a review (Angry Joe) no matter how well known the company is, because it is just business to them. They will trick you and lead you on to make a buck of a 2 month old project which is what Destiny is, it is an exact copy of halo mechanics so no it did not take them long to reskin the characters and name the guns while splashing different paint on them.

Reviewers are tools. Form your own opinion.
-
The single biggest thing you can do is not pre-order or prepay for games. Make them earn your money after release. Also, don't buy the new COD.
-
For me, no more preodering anything with expansions already included. I'm okay with buying a game and then being disappointed. But buying a game and spending an extra $40-$50 for expansions when i haven't even played yet, and not knowing whether I am going to be severely disappointed isn't gonna happen again.

I can't even count how many games I've played (and LOVED) that got bad reviews. You're telling me that you're going to let someone else tell you what games YOU like and dislike? You're what's wrong with this world.
-
Titanfall got 9/10 got no campaign whatsoever Reviews are a fakery system
-
I think the crux of the matter is gamers getting to excited and devouring any news they can get before a game is released (Games always change and deadlines have to be met)... It's simple don't wait for reviews or create this fantasy game in your head about what you think the game is going to be. Wait until it is released and you see actual footage of the game and the contents. No one has anyone to blame but themselves if they are not happy with a blind purchase!
-
You've played for like 100 hours, ripoff or not, you got your 60 dollars worth.
-
Yep, false advertising. Class-action lawsuit thread here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71036499/0/0

I measure the value of a game by how long it keeps my interest. If I keep coming back for more it's true value for money an was a valid purchase. Simple as that. I've put over 70 hours into Destiny and I'm just about coming to the limit of my interest on my first character. But I intend to is it all again with the other 2. YOU have spent over 100 hours on this game. Now that is skyrim type of value for money. How many other games will you put 100+ hours into ? Even GTA5 would have topped out before 100 hours.

Edited by DinkleBot: 9/30/2014 10:32:15 PMI doubt they intended on tricking you. We all know for a fact they had staff difficulties a little before release, and probably had to remake the game a new in many of the major areas of it in that short time because of Activision's pressure for release. They will probably update it more than they would have before, because they know the game draws short of expectations.

More like keep buying games without reviewers.
-
People in this thread would buy a car with active recalls with blatant disregard to there own safety just to defend destiny. Reviews, and consumer info exist for a reason. Because 60 dollars was not a huge investment, I bought the game before reading reviews. But to say reviews period in any form are meaningless? If reviewers or anybody that writes about a game are so incompetent, then why should we listen to or read the crap that's posted on this forum?
-
Amen brutha

I came to this conclusion years ago. Just make sure you read several reviews so you can discern for yourself what the truth of the matter is. You'll be much happier if you can actually stick to it.

So..are you saying the game was so bad that you did not get our 60 dollars worth of worthwhile time in the 100ish hours you played in about 3 weeks? You averaged about 33 hours a week ( considered a full time job at many places ) on something you didn't like? At any point did you think " I dont like this, maybe I should stop doing it"?

The problem is, most 'reviewers' who work for actual companies (IGN, Gamespot, just examples) have the possibility of getting paid to write a good review, and it's all about the money. I dunno whether they got paid for it but I've seen IGN give great reviews to games that were about as great as a glittered turd. Point being, going simply by reviews, unfortunately, is a very bad idea given how many reviews are/can be skewed in favor of money, rather than the true quality of a game itself. Bear in mind, it's the reviews that sell games to people, some world renowned reviewer tells that this glittered turd has added features that make it far better, when it doesn't, you'll still buy it and find out for yourself that it's just a glittered turd, nothing more, nothing less. My advice? Don't watch reviews, watch gameplay footage. By that I mean, wait a bit after release and find a 'walkthrough', possibly with commentary, and watch someone else play the first few levels. You get a far better idea of how the game at least looks and plays, without much of the 'hey guys, Im getting paid to review this horrible game and give it a score of 10/10' instances. Just a thought :)

Nope sorry I buy what I like not what angry joe our someone I don't know doesn't
-
Lol, Yahtzee's my go to reviewer....if I actually listened to his game opinions, I would never buy anything.
-
Considering all the corruption and bs that there is lately in gaming journalism, that is a BAD idea. Go search up the current and ongoing gamergate stuff thats going on around the internet. The only way you will ever get a real review is from yourself when you play the game. Either rent the game and try it and then buy it if you like it. Or buy the game and trade it in if you don't like it.
-
No most reviewers and reviews are bought and paid for by developers and publishers all you can trust is your own judgment and your own opinion and if you have A local Redbox around that you can rent the game from

Angry Joe? Bahahahaha smh stupid kids

Do u really want to listen to other people and obey them?

Can't think for yourself

You have violated the code of conduct, prepare to face ninja justice

Reviews... If I had listened to them, I won't have over 100 hours of pure enjoyment out of this game and counting.
