losing hope..

You know, I really like this game, like 50 hours in and it's fun playing with My friends, but reading all these negative posts and cut content, not to mention the "404 architect" interview were the guy explains everything about how destiny was suppose to be and how much they cut back, I'm really starting to see a negative side to this, and if any of it is true with the cut content I hope they lose the community

  • I have to ask you this question. It's important you be honest with yourself because a lot of people lie when they ask themselves this. And those that are honest feel better about things in the end. Are you ready? Okay...
It is possible that you can admit that Destiny has flaws AND STILL enjoy the game?
Heavy stuff right? Take your time. Breath. Get used to the new sensation.
Not everything needs to be Black and White.
Why don't you sit down for a bit and play the game. Remind yourself of this. Ease into it. We'll be here when you get back.

        • Independent thought is not popular — it is absolutely, pricelessly, rare. Nothing you read about in the papers or see on the television is independent. Whatever we take in from the popular media is regurgitated conventional knowledge. There is nothing independent about most of the world. This is a tragedy — independent thought is essential for progress. Conventional thinking moves us forward gradually at best (at worst it pushes us backwards). Independent thinking is required to achieve any substantial jump in performance. Logically, when we think like everyone else is thinking, the best we can expect is to achieve what they’re already achieving. If our aim is to over-achieve, we need to avoid the same banal influences and think impossibly. We need to become independent from conventional wisdom. Fortunately, you don’t have to be particularly intelligent or well educated to think independently. Consider small children. Conventional wisdom says that shoes are for wearing and bananas are for eating. Independent thinking allows children try eating the shoes and wearing the bananas on their feet. Their lack of conventional wisdom and utter disregard for how others view their decisions allows children to experiment without anxiety. In this case they may be wrong, but in other cases they can be shockingly right. Using these 5 strategies you can develop your independent thinking ability. 1. Disconnect from sources of conventional thinking Instead of plugging into your TV, PC, or library for answers, think for yourself first. Without cutting yourself off from the world, you can increase your capacity for independent thought by limiting the conventional opinion you absorb. This means reducing the media you consume and the level of devotion you give to it. Independent thinkers aren’t necessarily contrarian, but they don’t agree with the status quo by default. They devise new criteria for perceiving the world rather than seeing everything through the screen of their computer. 2. Immerse yourself in experiences that conflict with your current perspective Instead of substituting a new conventional thought for the old one, deliberately seek out experiences that challenge your views. These experiences may exist in foreign cultures, unusual subcultures, or between the pages of a book you disagree with. The point is not to adopt a new train of thought, but to disrupt the conventional railroad. 3. Watch the process from a distance Leaving your normal life behind can give you the freedom to see issues from another perspective. Watching the world instead of eating it up gives you the peace of mind to think for yourself. Standing still from time to time gives you the opportunity to ridicule your own beliefs and explore new angles. 4. Randomize your sensory inputs Instead of visiting the same places, eating the same foods, and talking to the same people, you can actively pursue new experiences. Many people cling to the familiar to simplify decisions and create a sense of security. If you truly want to think independently, you need to get outside your comfort zone. 5. Practice disbelief Without becoming a cynic, you can develop the habit of instinctively distrusting thoughts that rely on conventional wisdom. Instead of assuming that these “truths” are self evident, suspend judgement until you’ve have confirmed that there is reality behind the logic. If all of this sounds too difficult, consider what can be gained from independent thought. Even microscopic steps towards thinking independently will increase your contribution to the world. You will see opportunities and solutions that others overlook. You will obtain a competitive advantage over less creative thinkers. Most importantly, your thoughts will be your own and not just recycled media. Think independently and you create a world of limitless opportunity. But don’t take my word for it…find out for yourself Read more at http://www.pickthebrain.com

          • Do you alway let people tell you what to think?? If you LIKE playing with your friends....and plan on staying WITH the game series....WHY do you care what critics, malcontents and flamers have to say?? The bottom line here is that 1. Never take anything that someone says "anonymously" at face value. The person who does so is hiding their identity---and unwilling to stand by what they say----for a reason....and you don't know for sure what that reason is. 2. This was concieved to run for 10 years..and how they decide to break up that much content is an EDITORIAL decision. All of it is eventually going to come out in the four major releases and the four expansions unless there is some MAJOR renegotiation of the agreement between Activision and Bungie. So its silly to get worked up about how much is released when. If you like the game, you shouldn't mind seeing that Bungie profits from their work. If you don't like the game, you shouldn't care because you're not going to be playing any of the other stuff anyway. Otherwise, you're just being cheap. This game has passed the inspection of the only *critic* I care about. ME.

close all curtains, shut all doors, hammer large crooked bits of wood across doors and windows, remove all media devices apart from console. Play Destiny......ahhh that's better. Destiny is fun, great fun. Nothing more and nothing less.

            • I'm interested to see how Bungie responds to all of the negative feedback and the 404architect article coming to light. I hope they implement some, if not all, of the content that was originally intended for the game. I like Destiny and really want it to be the game that I was anticipating for so long. I haven't bought the DLC packs yet, and won't until I see the contents, but I hope they will justify spending the money. I think it just so happened that there were extenuating factors resulting in the difference between Bungie's original vision and what was released. *Activision, I'm mainly pointing the finger at you* Coincidentally, I went on the Activision website to see if they have a forum section and if there are people expressing their disapproval there as well. From the hand full of posts I've found, Activision's response to all was pretty much, "Go to (insert bungie forum web address here). That is the proper place to voice your concerns." Basically conveying to me that Activision is going to continue to "throttle/control" Bungie's efforts while disregarding any fan concerns, washing their hands of any explanation, and/or justification, and/or retribution (the last of which I am not arguing for or against, just including in the list). Plainly, throwing Bungie under the fan bus. If Bungie loses consumers Activision doesn't care. It comes down to money for Activision. They have many other developers that produce games that people buy, including one of the largest selling franchises in the world, Call of Duty (which Ghosts had both DLC and micro-transactions). Not to mention being part of Blizzard, in itself, a pure cash cow. My opinion being said, feel free to like or dislike...agree or disagree...I really don't care either way.

              • They will. Destiny is and will always be a flash in the pan. As soon as a couple semi popular games hit nobody outside of these forums will be discussing the game. It will simply just die out.

                • Sounds like you want proof that the reddit article is true. I choose to want proof that it isn't. Having an "anonymous" Deej, that apparently works for the company trying to disavow any/all of this information, doesn't really put me at ease. However, this information is showing up everywhere, including an article in Forbes. Seems to me that a company would start calling slander if it were accused of such actions that weren't true. I can't say that it is or isn't true. There is no way to confirm or deny its validity. What I am interested in is how Bungie will handle the consumer backlash.
