Not Another Story Bashing Thread

First, I want to put in the caveat that I will make my best effort to provide constructive criticism and feedback. Many people at Bungie have put in a lot of hard work and have made an extremely detailed and amazing game in many ways. Clans
What will you do with your freedom? Will you fight? -William Wallace, Braveheart
Since before the game launched, Bungie has been talking about how they want players to create their own matchmaking and organization within the game. I say, give us a reason to. Currently, the only perks for clans are being able to complete a few trophies/achievements that you couldn't otherwise and having people on hand to complete Raids and Strikes with. I propose a reputation system for clans that will grant them in-game perks. This system would provide reputation points based on a clan member's participation in Strikes and Raids. The clan will gain perks such as the ability to store a given number of items in a community vault, the chance to make a clan seal, the ability to put the clan seal on armor or weapons, etc. Factions
We are the sum of our choices, as what we do now defines what we will do. -Professor Xavier, X-Men: Days of Future Past
Factions in Destiny seem to be a hollow shell of what they should be. All the factions seem to have these interesting purposes and mysterious leaders shepherding their members toward... what? There is no backstory or purpose for gaining faction rank other than to get some armor and weapons. The only real person that seems to represent these factions is the sole vendor that provides your faction goods. And apparently the factions sponsor certain Crucible matches and patrol missions, but for no discernible reason. Please, breathe some life into the factions. They could be interesting and if given some kind of identity, purpose and motivation, this might actually be a great reason to keep playing the game. I'm not talking about giving them their own bounties or something. I'm talking subplots, story lines and missions (not patrol). Story
The minute you stop trying to find it, it will find you. -Robert Frobisher, Cloud Atlas
GIVE US THE CUTSCENES. I know that there is an intense desire in the gaming industry to immerse the players in the lore and gameplay of any given game. However, all of the cutscenes in Destiny have served to bring the story into a cohesive unit. Right now, Destiny seems to jump between random tidbits of backstory that just serve to make everyone confused and wanting more. I'm intrigued by the Exo Stranger, her origins and her alignment, not because she is featured in the Grimoire Cards or the gameplay, but because the cinematic scenes made her interesting. DO MORE OF THAT! The players want to know what's going on with the Speaker (is he really aligned with the Light), the Queen and her brother (where do their allegiances lie, why is there a weird sexual tension between the characters, etc.), and yes, even the character that they're playing. Players need some kind of identity and purpose to continue on between DLCs and events. Show them why they're playing, what happened to the Traveler, even give them a storyline based solely on their class or subclass. Instead of trying to develop the sense of belonging to a greater world and story through out-of-game content and a plethora of obscure tidbits of lore, give us some content that solidifies our character's place in the world. Bottom line, if it comes down to developing Grimoire Cards and App content vs in-game content, GET RID OF THE APP STUFF. Anyway, that was my 2 cents about what needs fixing in Destiny. The gameplay support and balancing is perfect and gives me faith that things will move in the right direction, especially with the improvements to the loot system. I think I speak for many when I say that we do not want to stop buying Destiny's content. We just want to be assured that what we are getting will be something substantial.
