My thoughts on the on disc DLC

Recently there has been a lot of talk about the controversy of the on disc "locked" content. So, I'm going to express my thoughts on this. First off, one of the most common things that I have heard or read is people saying things like "It's like buying a house but not being able to use the bathroom until you pay more". Well, this is partially true, however, did anyone think that Bungie could not afford to do off disc content and this was the best way to give you the DLC? By programming the disc to have it? Now, I certainly do believe that when I first heard this, my reaction was "WTF Bungie", as in sure this was most other people's reactions. However, then I looked at it from a different perspective. Now, before you all hate me and comment on how wrong I am, let me explain more. Now, as we all know, Activision was also part of creating destiny and "helped" Bungie with it, and as most gamers know, Activision is know for DLC. So we all knew it was coming, but the second someone saw it on the disc, everyone freaked out. If people should be complaining about anything, it's the DLC itself, not the fact that it is on the disc. This is how I see this now "You realize that there is a secret room in your basement that is locked and can't be opened, but the owner wants you to pay for the key". This is how I see this situation now. Hopefully, now you all can post you comments not only saying how wrong I am, but also you could give me explanations and examples like this.

  • Has nothing to do with it. It all comes down to Sony and Ms restrictions. Patches cannot exceed a set size. By packing that info on the disk they can cut over half the patch size off. Allowing them more room to maneuver. Instead of having small content patches. If this was a pure pc game that wouldn't be an issue. As a console game it has certain restrictions it must follow.
