I came across something while reading about Hermeticism on Wikipedia (internet rabbit hole). I'll copy and paste what exactly caught my interest: "A creation story is told by God to Hermes in the first book of the Corpus Hermeticum. It begins when God, by an act of will, creates the primary matter that is to constitute the cosmos. From primary matter God separates the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water). Then God orders the elements into the seven heavens (often held to be the spheres of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Sun, and the Moon, which travel in circles and govern destiny)." The relationship between cosmology and destiny, in both Hermeticism and the game is rather uncanny. I don't have time to postulate what this could mean. Could just be coincidental, or perhaps Bungie used this system as a basis for their story? What do you think?
