Getting what we paid for.

Fair warning to all the people complaining about cut content, this isn't going where you think it is. First, I want you to look at your Destiny play time. Go ahead, I'll wait. No really, go. Done? Great. Now I want you to think about that number compared to any other FPS or Action Adventure game you've ever played. This game already has WAY more content than most like it and some of that content is being added for free later (Raids). The problem here is that everyone wants to see this game as the next Halo or CoD where you buy the game and then maybe some new maps later. This game is a moving experience. It's on a schedule. If you've played MMO's before you're probably already settled in. For some content pieces I understand your discontent, Queens Wrath is a little lackluster. However, the game has only been out for 3 weeks. If you picked apart MMO's that quick you'd be hailed as an idiot. As it stands, this game isn't exactly an MMO, but has many of its features. It is a game designed for grinding, and that's not for everyone. Above all, this game is NOT Halo and can't be treated as such.

Sorry, it's just a little difficult to map out your logic for defending this game, especially after your previous post where you completely went off and cursed out every single person who pointed out this game's flaws. Then it got Ninja'd! Good times. P.S. Skyrim. $60. 200+ hours. That is all.

Here are the reasons I bought Destiny: 1. Give Bungie one last chance to entertain me. 2. Get a class-based, co-op FPS to play with my friend on my PS4. 3. Hopefully get a game that clearly seems to want to be the love child of Mass Effect and Borderlands. 2 out of 3 isn't bad... 😉 I'm happy with my purchase but hope Bungie will still pursue and attain the ME&B Love Child dream. 😎
This game already has WAY more content than most like it
Um. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Um. Uh. Hmm. I've played Resident Evil 6 for about almost 8 days. 181 hours and 33 minutes. Game launched with 4 campaigns, and 2 other game modes. One game mode had you join other peoples' campaigns as an enemy, and the other game mode was separate. It came with 3 maps. When I go back and play that game, I rarely play the DLC game modes, or on the DLC maps. The starting content is certainly enough for me. The game came out in 2012 and I can still have great fun with the content that was with the game at launch. In Destiny's case... a few weeks in, and it's getting stale for me. What a shame.

I looked at my play time...pretty disappointed compared to my numerous in BF3 which wasn't good...but a hell of a lot better than destiny in story AND gameplay. and thousands in bf2...i think this basically defeated your point on the spot...but let's continue with 20+ on Deus Ex on playthrough 1, System Shock 2 i can't even count....i'll stop here... i wanted a FPS MMO Mass Effect...i got a shitty Halo-CoD hybrid with some RPG elements that are a disgrace to any RPG...want to grind? Go play torchlight 2...also SWtOR had more content than destiny. Might i also add that "Grinding" does not equate to an MMO...and this game lacks MMO features...where is my communication with over 6 people? no where...at all....i don't even see 6 people in the tower at any given time... Treating it like halo? never did, treated it like an FPSRPG, and it is shitty.

      • I like how defenders of Destiny use MMO references when it suits their argument but then quickly point out that the game is not an MMO when people use MMO references against Destiny.

        • Yeah I guess I put some time in, but I'm already done with Destiny forever. So much content cut out to be sold off as day 1 DLC, and it's a joke. Can't believe how far Bungie has fallen. It's no wonder key employees either quit or got fired. You like the game, congratulations. Destiny still won't be relevant in a few months time. Take a look at the games coming out this holiday and early 2015. The majority of people won't give 2 shits about Destiny by then, because to most people it just wasn't good enough. Shadow of mordor, COD AW, BF Hardline, evolve, witcher 3, Bloodborne, the order 1886, and the MCC. Yeah I'm sure Destiny will still be relevant after those games ship *sarcasm*

            • Exactly, OP. As you've said; I come from many years of MMO, RPG, and MMORPG gaming experience. I'm so settled into Destiny after three weeks, I feel like I'm home. :) Love this game, can't quit playing it. Definitely worth my $60 USD, and has repaid me the cost many times over already.

              • I cant say yet if I got my moneys worth as I bought the Digital Guardian Edition. So untill the two expansions packs drop over the next 6 months, it would be assanine of me to say I did or did'nt get value for my purchase. Now if I was to view it as is and it being a $70 Standard edition game with adding Xur, and Queens wrath missions, then I would say yes I did, I play it constantly. Also the Iron Banner I belive opens up next week no interst to me, but I know some will love it, which like the Queens missions are free. So I belive yes using that criteria, I did get what I payed far so far, and will reserve judgenment on the entire Guardian edition game till the 2 expansion passes content drops.

              • I'm likely to take a few tongue lashings here but meh.... Destiny to me attempted to be an upgraded version of "Defiance". You can say what you want about the game but Defiance did so many things better than Destiny. It might not be as pretty to look at but the scale of interaction between players, the story (while not great is still interesting enough), the variety of weapons, the arkfalls (public events), the skills and skill trees were all better in my opinion. That being said, I love Destiny, though it has problems, some of which may get fixed others won't. I will keep playing it and buying expansions so long as they make them

              • I've put in about 95 hours at this point which I would have to agree is worth the $60 I paid for the game, but not worth me having bought a PS4 primarily for this game (not that I don't plan to use it for other things). However, this amount of play time doesn't even come close to the amount of time I have put into some MMOs or even single player RPGs like Oblivion and Skyrim. I really do want this game to succeed. I have enjoyed many aspects of it, but it needs a lot of work if it is going to last. If things don't drastically improve over the next few months, then this game will never make the proposed 10 year lifespan. Seeing the obviously cut content is somewhat upsetting, especially if it's going to be part of a paid DLC. I hope it's free content that they plan on adding over time on the way to the expansion, but I feel like that won't be the case. This game could have been so much more, so it's easy to see why so many people are unhappy with the game. Especially after what was advertised to us. As the game stands, it is nothing more than a foundation for what may become a great lasting game or could end up a horrible failure (not in terms of profit that is).

              • You do realize we play the same content over and over again? Even though the Queen's bounties offer no new area to roam in. It is just bounties for the same missions. Lets say it took you 12 hours to do the story. You now play the same 12 hours over and over again. It is the same content just a different bounty or reward in the end. MMOs like WoW have thousands of areas to explore from level 1-80. You can do raids which are huge and usually 1-5 raids to begin each expansion. The instances are plenty. You literally play the story missions over and over and over in Destiny. I would not be surprised if they took VoG and branched in another area through the maze or something. Honestly, would not surprise me so they do not have to create another environment just add on another puzzle and a boss monster that looks like all the others. The monsters are all the same just bigger. The Ogre looks like Phogoth. Phogoth just a cool name and more health but still looks like the ogre. Daily, weekly, an nightfall has the same story missions just different modifiers. I like playing this game. Don't get me wrong it is a great game. The replay is high...well because you play the same missions over and over. If you told me this game has 200+ hours of content...you're lying. It has 12 hours of content with a high replay ability. TL;DR: Game has limited hours of content you're just playing it over and over. All the bosses look like monsters you have seen before with cool names and more health. Weeklies and dailies are the same story missions with modifiers.

                • This game is not Halo. But after grinding all day on the same strikes that I have been grinding on since the game came out I came up empty. Queens Wrath is lackluster but seems to fit with the rest of the game which is also a little lackluster.

Honestly, if the game had a coherent story that ended on, say, a "to be continued," most of the complaining would have never started and would instead have been speculation type threads and hype about the expansions, but the fact is that the story is disjointed and makes little sense even after getting all the ghosts and reading all the grimore cards (like I have). The rage has little to do with most aspects of the game, but the lack of story makes even small problems glare.

                  • I feel like the way they are releasing the content is not conducive to how most people play, or at least most players that are active on the forums. Hardcore players are excited by new game and will eat up content faster than anticipated. By the end of year one, I expect that the players would have experienced the game content, but I feel like I should have been able to do it all, or at least hear about, by the first week. You are definitely right that we just are not accustomed to how they planned this. I'm sure they will pull through
