So what's the deal with the current shotgun design in Destiny? Shotguns are obviously very strong in pvp and punish your enemy (maybe a bit too much) for getting close to you. But I feel like they are near useless in any high lvl content like the nightfall strikes. Most of the enemies you fight will one hit KO you in melee range, exactly the range you need to be in to use your shotgun. Trying to use your shotgun on bosses is just a suicide run with no benefits at all.
I'm curious to hear any succes stories with the shotgun in the raid or nightfall strike. Do you think the gun could use a slight buff in pve to justify the risk or do you guys think it's fine the way it is?
Thanks for reading!

Edited by a potato: 9/25/2014 7:53:17 AMShotguns are terribly balanced. They should double the range AND make the pellets spread much sooner, then half the damage (so it no longer 1hkos but is useful at sane ranges). Right now bads in pvp camp or charge in and fire to score 1hkos, while it's useless in pve unless you're being hammered by melee from the mobs.

Uhhhhh fusion rifles, that's how you fix that. Get one with accelerated coils and bam, pretty much a shot gun with range that just tears through shit.

I use shotguns to eat through shields, since you can't get critical damage with their shield up.

The only use i found in shoot guns was inPvP since i suck! The other in PvE is when enemies come head on or you want to clear the way fast before you die!

Yea i stay away from shotguns unless im doing bounties and patrols in low level areas.
