I'll be sorry for asking this but what's your opinion on Destiny's looting system? I feel like its good but the drop rates for blues and legendary's seems to low for my level (27).

Edited by Sixth: 9/25/2014 4:02:29 AMi'm okay with it because this is what you get with loot crawls. This is diablo but with guns. If you aren't happy with that then you need to jump train quick.

Double RNG systems are terrible design. By this I mean you have to get exceedingly lucky to "roll" high enough to get a legendary engram but then you have to get a lucky high "roll" on the exact same item at the Cryptarch to see if you get the same rarity level. That's just shoddy and it does nothing but infuriate players. There really would have been a better solution, at least for Legendaries, but it would have had to be this way at launch: Step 1: Upgrade materials for legendary and exotic items (e.g. Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Energy) should have a rarity of LEGENDARY. They're not needed for anything below legendary so they really shouldn't be "rare". Strange Coins should also have a rarity of Legendary since they only exist to be redeemed for exotic gear weekly. Step 2: When decrypting a Legendary Engram, which I'd say the drop rate is pretty good with despite the various farms out there, it would have a chance to decrypt into either: - A legendary piece of gear (weapon/armor) - A legendary upgrade material - A legendary Strange Coin; or - A legendary color shader or emblem. Viola. Legendary decryption would always award a legendary of some type that would apply to the progression of legendary/exotic gear or, in the case of shaders/emblems, customization. It's still an element of double RNG, but at least legendary would always award something that's legendary - and that would make people feel less ripped off than the current system. Unfortunately, if they upgrade the rarity of the materials now, it'll just look like they're slapping a band-aid on the problem; this really should have been how it was at the very start.

The drop rate is different every time you go into a different mission, strike, or patrol. I have full exotic/legendary armor and weapons. You're supposed to have to grind for good gear and once you get good gear you're a high enough level to get even better stuff but it requires some luck and knowledge of the game.

It's fine. I complain a lot but honestly if it was too easy I would have nothing left to do

It's good

Edited by Booplesnoot: 9/25/2014 3:55:18 AMRandom = Doesn't make sense = Pisses players off = a negative = pointless. I think it requires structure, and should be geared more towards gaining loot from bosses as opposed to having better luck by one-shotting enemies for hours in a cave. I'm not against farming, the point of this game is to grind thus farm for better gear, but at this rate, the game is then only good for raiding, PvP, and farming the cave.

I'm fine with it. Getting all the "junk" loot is good for upgrade parts, and the rarity of a legendary or exotic engram makes it a little more special when they actually decode to purple or yellow.
