Honest feedback...from someone who loves the game.

EDIT: Added in the fabled, elusive 10th feedback item. ;-) First please, understand that I love this game and am exceedingly grateful for it, but just as you are your own biggest critics (I wonder what emails started flying around the office on Tigercorps after the middling reviews started coming out), well, here goes. 1. Grimoire - I'm sure you've heard this a lot already. I don't know how much RAM or resources it will eat up to throw it in the menu, but this seems a given. It seems like having it outside the game was by design and not necessity, but if it's the latter, you will hopefully find a way to pull it off. A lot of the poor scores based on lack of story or depth might have been less harsh or perhaps even positive, if the Grimoire was accessible in game. I'd love it, even though I'm willing to use my computer or mobile device to look at it. This world that you've crafted is very rich, but practically no one outside these forums probably knows it. 2. Story - Love the story, even enjoyed the understated humor from Ghost (not to mention all of the ambient humor in the Tower), but that was a prologue, right? If you want to convince people there's a good story in there, you're going to need to provide updates to it outside of the Expansion DLC. People already disappointed with what there is now, will only find more to loathe if the next bit of story they have to pay for. I work in the industry so I know there's no way to make that adjustment on the fly, so if you haven't already planned for that, well, then...the hits will just keep on comin.' 3. Missions - Well, regardless of whether you can add more story, you can always add new missions with varying objectives that are more interesting than just shooting. Based on the fabulous reviews the raid content is getting, you have plenty of talented designers capable of doing this. I am willing to bet that the current simple point by point structure of the story missions (and strikes) is to allow for the greatest amount of accessibility in a limited time frame, so people with other life obligations and distractions can always find some content that is achievable given their time schedule, but it does get old quick, especially for Sensors/Judgers/Sameness types of people (a little Jungian/NLP reference there). At least add more one offs like "The Sword of Crota." 4. Bosses and Majors/Ultras - Yeah, I know resources are limited for new animations and rigs and AI and modeling, but in the future, please find them to make more unique bosses, that are more than bullet sponges (the Devil Walker has ended up being the most enjoyable boss currently). While dealing with their adds and the well designed layouts keeps you on your toes and keeps things interesting, the bosses themselves are kind of annoying. Making them difficult in more unique ways would go a long way to appeasing the people who are disappointed in this game, and I can't imagine anything but joy from all of us who love the game. Majors and Ultras don't have to be unique enemies, but making them stand out visually like the Brute Chieftains of old and have different attacks that make them more dangerous and formidable would be awesome. 5. Proximity chat: Hey, I get that there's more to the Proximity Chat issue than you guys not wanting to do it. Luke and Luke's comments at PAX seemed to infer (or outright state, can't remember) it is not nearly a simple fix based on the complexity of the networking code working behind the scenes. Still, there are times I just want to talk to people in the Tower and engage, verbally. I'm an ENFP (and Difference/Options/External for the NLP people out there), so I'm at my happiest when I'm talking and making new friends and while I don't get discouraged too easily when chat/game invites aren't answered, it does temper some of my unbridled enthusiasm for the game over time. Yes, I know, the forums and Clan pages are built for this, but if you can make it happen that would be great. Turn it off by default if need be, but move that mountain, please! 6. Private Lobbies - Not too worried about this, as I'm assuming all of the statistics you have will tell you whether this is what you should be prioritizing now or not. 7. Public events - Not too worried about this either if you have people who worked on Guild Wars 2 working on these. I still haven't seen all of the ones that are in there now, but I'm assuming more and more will be snuck in with time and greater variation as content teams become more fluid and able to iterate and test quicker. 8. Dailies/Weeklies Matchmaking - I thought the only activity that lacked matchmaking was Raid content (which hopefully will never allow matchmaking). I don't personally see the harm in making all of the dailies and weeklies available for matchmaking. I don't mind putting in effort to recruit some friends, but again, this doesn't seem remotely on the same level of coordination as Raid content, so it feels like an odd omission. 9. Paid vs. Free Content Updates - While I know there will be new areas added to existing destinations, I'm hoping there will be new destinations added as well. Also, it'd be much nicer to see more free content updates that unlock those new areas of existing destinations than paying for them. This raises that whole ugly argument of leaving content on disc that is only accessible by paying for the DLC. I'm certain that's not the case, since big games like this with planned DLC split off smaller teams to go into production while the majority work on polishing and buttoning up the main game for final. This, despite the fact that much of the RAS 2 Bunker and Seraphim Vault were found in the Beta. It looks like the majority of the known House of Wolves story missions take place in those teased areas in Old Russia. That's cool and everything, but hopefully there will be substantial free content updates, to prevent that firestorm from building momentum. You might want to get out in front of that one, sooner rather than later. 10. Timed exclusivity - Hey, this one is pie in the sky as I doubt you can do anything about it, but once Fall 2015 rolls around would you mind making any future timed exclusivity closer to 30 days, instead of 365? Considering how many people are complaining about lack of content (which is arguably all down to perspective), giving FREE extra content to only half of the available platforms for a full year seems to be a little counter-productive for creating an inclusive community. I'm not against timed exclusivity, but 30-60 days is a long time to wait when you're chomping at the bit for new content, whereas a year is practically an eternity (Ok, I am against timed exclusivity on ANY platform, but it's not going to go away any time soon, so I've learned to deal with it). A year from now, I'm hoping there is so much new content, that I won't even notice when Exodus Blue and the Dust Palace strike are available on my platform, but in the future it would be kinda nice to not wait so long (not that Activision will care/listen). 11. NPCs in the wilds - This may not be feasible due to the nature of the respawn system, but it does seem like there are already some remote areas of each destination that look recently dwelled in. I know the real life of the game comes from the other players, but this might help to bridge some of the character depth and story bits. It certainly sounds like you might throw Cayde in a mission or two (here's hoping!). I know that's asking a ridiculous amount, especially since some of these suggestions are probably too time and resource intensive to implement soon, if ever, but that's my feedback. I love this game, but it's not perfect. Like you say, you're just getting started, so hopefully many of these issues are already being or already are scheduled out. Good luck and see ya starside!
