Bungie doesn't know what a Raid is.

I've only got experience in two MMOs at this point in time, despite having played them both for a year or so in cumulative time, I can't speak completely clearly on what's wrong with it, but I will be sure to post someone else that can do it for me. For people that don't know who MrHappy is, he's an avid youtuber and Twitch Streamer for several different games and channels, Curse being the "group" he started out in. He normally does info and updates on Final Fantasy XIV, but he has done things for XI before, Wildstar, and his most recently common choice, being Destiny. The thing, that even I myself made clear, was that this was likely Bungie's first actual attempt at something that is going to be called a "Raid." And it shows. He points this out himself. He discusses the mechanics that fall flat, the fights and how repetitive and plain they are, and how lackluster the Vault of Glass really is for this game's first "Raid" content. Bungie has contested time and again how Destiny is not an MMO and doesn't want to be, how it prefers the term "Shared World Shooter." Regardless of the words and phrases they're going to make up for the game, a Raid is usually some of the most difficult content in an MMO, and VoG sucks it up in that department. Suppose it shouldn't be surprising when another element of this game is misleading from what was said and told to us, but then again, Bungie's track record has been absolute gnarled crap for the past few months since the start of 2014, it's only going to continue with this game as they attempt to make schedules and "add content" like I'm playing the ****ing Halo Reach Beta all over again. "And next week we're going to add The Iron Banner, and the week after that we're going to add a mode of gameplay where when an Engram drops, it's actually loot for the ****ing class that you're currently playing as and intending to gear up." Defend it how you will, Bungie should have coined another phrase for this section of the game instead of thinking they've made something with actual challenging mechanics and phases, the Vault of Glass, is not creative or inspiring as content, it's disappointing. Anyone that's only played FPS's and other titles before though is likely to think it's the most fun and innovative thing they've ever touched, which explains why this game is still going to continue to sell well despite the issues that keep arising from it.

  • Did you hit Onyxia when she launched? 4-6 hours of auto-attack, regen cycles, and apparently random death. It was hell on earth on par with EQ raiding, though not as bad as SW:G. For that matter, Guild wars. Guild wars 2. DAOC. EQ2. AC. The list goes on and all who remember it bear deep scars.
