Edit: hey if u agree with me please post ur thoughts looks like i'll be maxing out a different class and watching video reviews of the DLC before I even consider buying it. for christ's sake, Mass Effect had more content than this. are you guys going to let them swindle you into buying the expansion pass?

  • All MMO do this - there's a million benefits for the company But anyone who has played an online game shouldn't be surprised & I bet we will see the level cap raise as the expansions come out #Patience

With how long I've played the game I can't honestly say I didn't get my money's worth, but I do feel that the content is lacking for the price I payed. I can, however, honestly say that the main reason I've put so much time into this game is because of the RNG. Is the DLC worth it's price tag? I only say yes because these types of games cost a lot of money to keep up and running. They have to keep the servers up 24/7, constantly patching a fixing things making sure they're stable, and that isn't cheap. As far as content goes, I don't feel Destiny is worth the price tag, but I'm also comparing it to Skyrim, which I just started the massive DLC for today, and it makes me realize just how much Destiny is lacking. If I could play Skyrim online, do raids, and fight bosses with other people, I'd probably never play Destiny again. Did I get my money's worth from the amount of time I've played? I guess. Did I get my money's worth from content and things to do? Definitely not. Am I paying a little more than the game and DLC are worth because they're not charging a monthly fee to play? Most likely.

  • I put loads of hours into Destiny and enjoyed them all. I enjoy both PvP and PvE so I will get loads of enjoyment from the DLC. I guess it's down to the individual if they think it's worth the money but to me £35 for the season pass is well worth it.

  • How about having a game where you get to a required level, and then go back down to 0 and then do it all again? How about having the developer of that game throw in some map packs along the way, eh? Would you be satisfied with that CoD mechanic? Destiny is a slow burner, just like other games in this genre. At least with this type of game your character will progress, and continue to progress in time. This being a 10 year game in the making, your character/characters will be with you for the duration. With other shooters you reach a certain level, obtaining all the guns and perks along the way, and then the developers, believing you're easily satisfied, asks you to do it again, and again, and again, albeit on different maps that they've put out for you to buy. Destiny is a great game, and a game I'll continue to support. Get yourself CoD, mate, and keep prestiging over, and over again.

    • No, I have adopted a new policy of not purchasing DLC without review if said DLC is over $10. Before, I would buy DLC upfront and it would not be that good. Or like in the case of MW3 the maps I bought were rarely in rotation. Anymore you buy a season pass and i'ts a gamble if the content is any good.

We pay more than $100 in New Zealand. Play crucible and get good at it. It's actually the best part of the game.

Game was over at level 20. And sadly I already bought the damn pass. Fool me once Bungie. Won't fool me again. My wallet is now closed.

        • The game has a standard amount of content for a standard fps like cod or bf, but artificially extended by a loot system and rng as well as forced multiplayer. Why? Probably because of activision, or, because bungie truly had no idea how to make the game they were trying to make, even though there's many examples they could of looked at for ideas. Or maybe (probably) both

          • Hers my understanding of this game. The thought process was to throw you into a world you know little to nothing about. As you discover new areas, enemies etc, you still have zero clue as to what happened when it happened and how it happened. Along with where the hell did these people come from. As the game progresses, through expansions, new areas, new enemies and new information develops. So let's say expansion 1 is Hive based. You will learn more about the hive, where they are from, their purpose etc. the level cap will also increase with each expansion. I know and fully agree this is a shit way to conduct business but that's was activision's call. They control what is and when it is released. The whole idea of the game having content locked on the disc is ludicrous. As your physical copy of the game only houses cut scenes, pre-rendered images such as maps, the proper coding and clearance license to access the servers where the game is actually stored. This is why the areas being glitched into are empty. They are currently being built and uploaded to the servers on a daily basis. People have also wondered where the bulk of the games budget went. The servers. Running servers for anything is costly. Add that to buying, housing and proper maintenance, the money adds up. Most people automatically assume that paying for the DLC is a bit asinine but in all actuality the DLC is nothing more than paying for the constant use of servers. The best way I can describe it is this. Would you rather have paid $60 for a game that was somewhat of a story but in order to access the content pay a $5 monthly subscription service fee, or pay $60 for a game that you can consistently play regardless of what you purchase afterwards and not have to pay said subscription? Yes the lack of planets, the lack of story is a way to entice you to purchase more content on a regular basis. Yes it's an easy cheap way to earn money. Yes it's a terrible thought that we are being exploited for being fans of a studio or just a fan of gaming. But at the end of the day, is that really what's happening?

            • I feel ya, im basically just gonna give the dlc a chance for the sole fact that i already bought it. The game has limitless potential. None of us are beeing haters. We just want the game we were "promised" (lack of a better term)

            • The butthurt is strong in this thread. I think I stirred the Bungie fanboy nest. Stop treating us like were bashing the game. We're not. If we hated it we wouldn't of bought it. The problem is quite literally EVERY game with DLC has more content in it than Destiny. Even Resident Evil 6 took longer to play through the story than this. Since most of us have to pay an internet subscription to even play this game why would we spend an extra $35 when the first $60 had the least amount of content in any game ever. Do I have to list all the games that took longer to finish than this? A luck based item drop system and repetitive grinding do NOT constitute an endgame. Running out of maps to explore and new enemies DOES. Don't try to tell me a weekly strike is gonna be worth anything when you're level 30.

              • They are adding a good amount to the dlcs. Just scroll through the grimoire cards and youll notice many other planets along with space for a lot more weapons. Could be a ploy just to make people curious but i doubt it.

                  • i think alot of the initial effort in making a game goes into setting up the gameplay systems and so producing more content is much easier and quicker once the game has been created. I definitely feel you on wanting more content and feeling like it was pretty thin at launch. Myself, I have been enjoying it and have been satisfied with the game. Sure I wish their was more but no matter how much they put I will always want more. And I am tentatively hopeful that the dlc might be pretty significant in size. Honestly I can pay 35 dollars for 3 movies at the theatre = 4 hrs or i can pay the same for the dlc = very many hrs so I think it will be worth it. And in regards to someone elses comment I think your poll is pretty biased. The options shouldn't so obviously reflect your own opinion. But with that said I think it is a good discussion nonetheless

                      • Sadly a lot of people who would tick the no box have already quit mate, all my friends left, no one I know is interested in the slightest about what the expansion is giving seeing as the game was too big of a let down on launch. So expect a lot more people here to be the ones who are sticking around and if this was posted a week after launch the results would be very very different.

                      • Given bungies past efforts destiny is on the very low end in story hours. Though it does seem the hours and story are there. They just chose to break it into little bits is they can sell it to you parts at a time. Schemes like this are pretty prevalent these days. If the content was there why not put it in at the start? Activision is in it for the cash. Not the love of gaming.

                        • Am I the only one who finds it strange that they announce 2 expansion packs before the release of the game and are going to make us pay for it? Why not push the game back to include these packs into the main game and then announce an expansion pack a few months down the road.
