Exotic Weapon Quest Thorn remove PvP portion of quest and replace with anything that doesn't involve the Crucible.
I don't care for the PvP, I don't want to do the PvP, I don't like how it distributes loot, and I REALLY don't like how I have to play it just to get an Exotic weapon that I will primarily use in PvE. It's even worse that I have to do really well to make any progress for that portion of the quest otherwise I can lose progress on it. Thanks for shoe horning me into a mode I don't want to do, Bungie.
Edit: If you're reading this now, move along. I have long since acquired Thorn and maxed it. Your input is unneeded. If you want to make yourself useful, tell Deej or whoever to close this thread..

I'm more hacked off that you have to do the mental summoning pits strike afterwards! Blatantly set up for people with good fire teams but what about us guys that just play for a few hours alone. Thanks for dangling the carrot

If you want the Thorn, a weapon that has a Crucible history, then god damn accept the fact that you will have to play PVP to get it and don't cry. If you can't accept that you will have to accept that you will not get the Thorn. PVP players are forced to play PVE in order to get competitive weapons and you don't see them crying. By the way: Why would you want to use it in PVE and 'waste' a Exotic slot? This gun was designed for PVP.

I hated the Phogoth strike but I did it, result, I love my Thorn and use it constantly now because it feels like an accomplishment (plus it's a super sweet gun).

It's really not that hard and if you want the thorn, you'll do it. If not, just discard the bounty and stop crying...I can't Imagine what you'd have to say about the Invective bounty. EDIT: I did this bounty with a Hunter class and a Black Chasma ESC (Blue Shotgun)

I hate pvp as well, my k/d is .89. But it can be done, I just knuckled down one weekend and used a void sniper/machine gun combo and got it done, I also hid like a little bitch and on a few maps only got a kill or 2, but I kept alive on those ones, it was slow but I now have my very own Thorn.

8 RepliesI have a issue with this part as well but I view it as a challenge worth tackling. It's about finding good weapons to use Word of Crota helps a lot if you got Swordbreaker and corruptive measure helps too

1 ReplyMy son rocks crucible so he finished that part in like, an hour for me. (He actually wants thorn, but my character got the bounty, so we'll earn it with my warlock then drop in in the vault for him.) Problem for me is the last mission: Friends are hard to come by for me, and when they have come they have killed Phogoth before the wiz appears or killed the wiz, no one seems to want to just sit and wait at the respawn spot for an hour while I slowly progress through the waves of Hallowed.

1 ReplyI'm not trying to show off but this bounty is simple if executed and done properly, you cant just expect it to be a simple task and done move on, the first part there's a mission on the moon change it to lv 20 than 30+ of those thing's will spawn kill em all let the rest kill you re-spawn and re do it takes about 7 minutes to 10 minutes. Step 2 is probably the most simple but frustrating part especially for hunter's I'm a hunter my self and did this bounty my self in less than 1 day and a half, its been about 2 weeks using a ps3 i never used one until i started playing destiny. I f i can do it so can you, but for this id recommend going in control and going on the map chasm and camp the right spawn for the heavy ammunition and use the light machine gun with void damage once your out just use a void sniper and stay low and out of sight snipe people and you get point's easy. Max matches it took for me was about 12-15 matches. Third part is where most people will struggle and that's killing the xour wizard, first of all it takes 3 ships for him to spawn he will spawn on the 3rd ship once you get him just kill him. 3 thing to consider when doing this there's a rock with invincibility but wizards can get you use the spot. Second is bring a arc,void, and solar damage gun, use the solar against wizards they die quick use arc for hive knights with yellow health itl brake there sheild in 1 shot and kill them in the next shot to the head and void is for red health hive knights with shields they die quick with void damage. When attempting this grab a friend at what ever level and make him camp at the re-spawn point so if you die you can re spawn and continue the bounty. This is how i was able to complete in it less than a day and a half all by my self while i had a buddy at the last part as my re-spawn point guy and i just re-spawned and keep shooting. Make sure your at least lv 26+ recommended level is 27 but 26 will work.

At first I would have agreed with you. I'm not a good PvP player. But I thought about it and said to myself, "well it is an exotic, so why make it easy". So I powered thru the crucible. The one thing I told myself is, DO NOT QUIT. Just take a heavy and a special with void damage and grind it out. You just gotta have a DECENT K/D ratio. One other thing, since I'm not a good PvP guy, I noticed I played extra cautiously and it worked. Good luck to you.

It took me a while to get that part done at first I didn't like sniping in the crucible it took way too long im more of the run and gun type of player so even tho I hate these guns with a passion I did half the bounty with a fusion rifle the other half with a shot gun I got off a engram worked pretty well also I racked up a lot of points on control hitting up B's with my rocket launcher... Guardians love fighting for B in control lol

3 RepliesI got thorn 2 days ago and it really is a disappointment. Thinking of disassembling it and switching back to my legendary one. It's slow rate of fire, slow reload times, stupid sight and not majorly impressive dmg make this exotic an item which makes me feel cheated
