Destiny's story isn't over...

I feel like I am seeing a lot of negativity regarding the story. While I concede to the fact that the initial story is a little lack luster, I don't feel like people truly understand this type of game. I know technically Bungie is not calling this game a true MMO, but by most accounts it can be classified as such. Most mmo's that I'm aware of don't have much of a story at all in the beginning but they gradually unfold as future dlc and patches are released. I think Destiny has started a foundation for what has the potential to be a great narrative. It seems like it has a very cohesive and structured story that has just yet to unfold. You can see many details throughout the main story line as well as in the collectible Grimoire cards that hint at something more substantial. Maybe Bungie is just holding their cards just a little too close to their chest? Maybe people rode the Destiny hype-train just a little too much? Whatever the reason, Destiny's story isn't over and shouldn't really be viewed as such. It's not a perfect game by any means, but it might not just be as bad as everyone may be initially thinking. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

  • I got the impression after playing the story that it's basically the 20 page prologue chapter to a George Martin-esque trilogy (2400+ pages would be the size of something like that). IE, basically nothing. But then again most of what was written for Destiny's story isn't actually IN Destiny, from what I gather (I will never read the Grimoire cards because I was meaning to purchase a game, not access to web-only Pokemon-style card description-type stuff. Cross-media crap should stop). There may be a story in Destiny (the game) one day. That day hasn't arrived yet.
