Sorry im confused by all the different comments and opinions, is it bad etiquette to farm? If so how are you supposed to get spin metal, relic iron and etc. I know you can do patrols to get them but they are randomly placed throughout areas so i assumed getting them was considered farming????

Don't get me wrong this is a good game but it's hollow I feel they released it as an incomplete experience.

Very good question. Personally i prefer the easy route if possible. I could tell last night while farming the spot that bungie was spawning waves of mobs trying to kill people. It was pretty funny because it just offered more kills for the higher level characters to enjoy. Almost like rewarding us for our hard work. Looking at this from a competitive standpoint however, i believe this cave needs a stick of dinamite or a bundle of dinamite thrown into it and blown up. But as long as it exist, i am going to farm it.

There honestly easier and much faster ways of acquiring exp and engrams. I do tiger strike missions, level 24. Got a purple engram on each run and levels new gear 2 or 3 levels. You also get vanguard marks and rep.

I have no issue with people farmimg mobs, the problem is the level of thosr mobs. Bungie simply need to look at the loot tables. Lvl 8 mobs shouldn't be dropping anything above uncommon engrams. This would simply move said players to mars to farm instead, but atleast those mobs are more equally matched in level.

Bungie created the cave as is before the beta and chose not to change it , so I would say that they at least think it is acceptable. Bungie has promoted several less than honorable game mechanics in the past , ex: T-bagging (great fun , but not very sportsman like).

IMHO, if the loot system was working properly than low level mobs would NEVER drop anything above white gear. As the enemies go up in level then the gear rewarded would as well. This would make it pointless for high level characters to farm lower level areas, and thus have to earn the gear in a meaningful way as bungie stated they wanted. Don't take offence from people who defend the easy street and don't want their easy buttons taken away. Every excuse in the "book of noobs" will be used.

Grinding is a deliberate, integral part of Destiny. It's not meant to be challenging, it's supposed to be a grind. This might be exploitative and I doubt they won't address it in a patch, but it's not a violation of anything. Of course people prefer the easiest possible way; is that a surprise to you?

I mean, I don't see the point in farming. It takes way too much time. Just choose a faction (vanguard, crucible, etc.) and obtain the legendary gear that way. I hate getting legendary engrams and end up with uncommon gear. It makes this game a whole lot easier.

First I will say I've done all the farming spots and I find nothing wrong with it it's the most effective way so why not do it but for other people who are again it here's what I have to say. The problem is that you can have the same chance of a legendary off a level 3 dreg and a level 28 captain if they balanced it out so that the harder the missions and the harder the enemies the better chance at loot more people will probably go do the harder strikes and missions but until that is changed farming weak stuff is most efficient so it will continue.

Hopefully they either start letting us put the difficulty of exploration on harder levels or as the player progress in level so does the enemies in all areas so that people can't farm 20 levels under....
