Grimoire should be found in game.
The Grimoire honestly should be added into the game. I think that would help with a lot of the missing lore in the universe.

1 ReplyAgreed. The story should be in the actual campaign, the script, and the events that happen within the world. If I want to read i'll pick up a novel, not an interactive experience. Even if it was housed in a library in the tower, it's still reading lots of text...in a game primarily about shooting aliens in the head. I stopped listening to Dinklebot about half hour in. The app is good for stats and checking gear/vendors. Terrible place to put the bulk of the lore.

Also, this game takes up a lot of hard drive space and data usage. Some people have limited amounts of both. One less thing causing a drain. Just putting it out there...

So I'd be really surprised if bungie don't move the info in-game, similar to mass effect's codex, at least for the sequel

2 RepliesI wish it were more than just text. Some of the grimoire cards are ghost fragments from the golden age or other guardians findings. I remember one I found was about one of the original astronauts who landed on Mars and first encountered the Traveler. I would love to see fragments of video footage for such a thing. News reels, newspapers, holograms of other guardians discussing findings or tales of woe. Just more immersive stuff than text. That said, I'm obsessed with finding as many grimoire cards as possible and pouring of the lore.

Especially when you just want to read some info about the game world on the spot when you receive it - as is the norm in any other game. I see the app and website as a nice extra place to check out of interest or redeem codes when you are away from playing the game. But it shouldn't be forced on you as being the only place to access certain aspects of the game. Not everyone will have access to a smart phone or necessarily want to sign up to a website in order to access the complete set of features of a game. Interconnectivity is cool but it needs to flow not stifle.

1 ReplyI love this game, but agree with you on this. It would be nice to have a library or something like that in the Tower where you could go and read all of the cards and "Study" your enemies and their history.

I agree 100%. It is difficult to fathom how anybody at Bungie thought it was a good idea to hide the Destiny lore so that it couldn't be referred to in the game itself -- especially for a game where they are trying to introduce a flagship new franchise/IP that they have a 10-year plan for. It seems like sheer laziness, unless it was a deliberate boneheaded decision driven by the Bungie or Activision marketing department (i.e. to collect those precious customer email addresses to so they can then annoy us with spam). On the PS4 and XBox One there is no excuse for not putting the Grimoire stuff in the game itself. It would have made more sense to spend the development resources on doing that than on making dumb little iOS and Android apps for devices that could be used to access the Grimoire on the web anyway.

I think there must be some corporate strategy bungie has where they think mobile/second screen is the most important thing ever, but honestly they should just make everything available in game. I don't want to use my phone to look at these things. Why not let me put them up on my big fancy high def tv?

It makes no sense why none of it is in-game. Why should we have to sign into this site and access what should be IN-GAME. If there is so much lore, why didn't they take the MASS EFFECT approach? If I wish to learn more about the universe of Destiny, I should be able to access it from Destiny ITSELF, not this website.
