Matchmaking Raids and nerfing content -> Destiny will go down the same path as WoW

Random pug matchmaking and LFR for raiding is one of the reasons World of Warcraft is on a steady decline. There's plenty of other reasons, but the main reason many long time subscribers left the game was because Blizzard pandered to the demands of the community, added things like Raid Finder, made the lower difficulty raids stupidly easy to complete, and drove away much of the community. The once 12 million strong community is steadily deflating. The value of completing a difficult raid is replaced by a pedestrian lack of self achievement. When everyone can blast through an endgame raid, it no longer feels special, and your hard work feels pointless. When World of Warcraft was released, and for a few years after initial release, the game did not have raid matchmaking. People formed groups and communities to tackle the really hard endgame content. This made raiding time consuming and difficult to organize, but that was the point. The end game content was not designed so everyone and their grandmother could do it whenever they wanted. You had to plan your schedule, work with your guild, etc. This does alienate the softcore community, and after a lot of whining to Blizzard, eventually the devs caved and added pug matching making and raid finder and other things that really diluted the end game experience. Some would argue that everyone, even the 13 year old anti-semitic homophobic racist who plays CoD all day should be allowed to enjoy the end game content without putting in the effort like everyone else. It's a good idea, but if it comes at the cost of nerfing all the content to brainless raids or grouping with random people who ragequit/leave/don't know what they're doing, then it's not going to benefit the game or the community in the long run. I am very happy that Bungie has decided not to made the endgame easily accessible. Those who put in the effort to arrange a group of friends or through an online community will be able to experience the best and most intricately designed content and those who don't will just have to work harder. This same argument can be made for the loot drop system. I don't want to be spoonfed loot. I want to work for my legendaries and exotics. TLDR: Dumbing down content and lowering the barrier of entry is one of the reasons that WoW is slowing dying. I am happy Bungie has left the best content for that most dedicated players. This is my opinion.
