Destiny: What You Love and Hate One Week In

The article that I linked here talks about how Destiny has so many things to love, but it also has a few things that you can grow to hate. However, even the author says that after playing for an ungodly number of hours, he can't stop playing. I definitely see myself in the same place. There are things I love about Destiny. There are also things I was disappointed with. What are your love and hates? How can the expansions make it better?

  • I love almost everything about the game, so I think it'll be easier if I just say what I dislike: 1. Radiant missions: I think they could have done a lot more with missions when you're on patrol. Radiant quest should only be a thing to do in between actual side quest in a game, not be a full focus on quest design. Not saying they should be removed, but they could have taken a page out of Borderlands or Diablo and create some real quest. 2. Story: Again, so much more could have been done. I didn't expect much from Destiny in regards to story even before launch, but damn what were they thinking here? The entirety of the story is so vague and goes unexplained that it is impossible to care little for it. Quite disappointing from the creators of Halo. 3. Glimmer: Not that this is much of an issue anyway, as glimmer's significance matters very little by late game when you're just swimming in it, but why the limit how the amount you can hold? There is absolutely no point in limiting glimmer. Can't think of anything else. But besides that, I enjoy the game immensely.

Wanted more game modes if PvP was this vital to game. Yet more are coming...oh and the john cena guy lol

I absolutely love Destiny! It's not hard to get immersed in it and lose track of time! Get on around 6ish & before i know it, its 1 am! Damn it! (i feel like a time-lord) This game is like BL, COD & Diablo rolled into one fat blunt! Only thing i hate is having to shut my console down! Always with the bed, food, work, my woman getting in the way of my destiny. Jk on the last one. It kinda sucks choosing to run with my 2nd class (lvl 8 titan) or continue to build main (lvl 25 hunter) character's rep & marks! I got a legendary helmet (Dustwalker) and it has 5 armor upgrades! That's sick! I'm extremely satisfied spending my glimmer on this beautiful game! Can't wait to visit Jupiter & Saturn soon! And Mercury too! Game in guardians! Quick question: Wht can't my ghost revive me? I mean he did resurrect me from a dusty pile of bones from who knows how long ago ........ Yet.

I love the game. I've played it far too much since the 9th and my health is deteriorating. I'm going to say my loves are similar to those of RedTwoTwo's, with the addition of Crucible of course, and waving to people after I kill them! Dissapointed: The story sucks The cut scenes are pathetic and very few I know I'm on the 360, but the cut scene graphics seemed terrible The game can be beaten in a pretty short amount of time Character customization is very disappointing The differences between titan/warlock/hunter are so minor it's almost not worth making more than one Hate: Auto Rifles Fusion Rifles The fact that I was forced to use a auto rifle to keep up in the crucible People complaining about the drop rate of items

      • Love the game, the only disappointment I have is with the social aspect of the game. I wish in crucible you could speak with the whole team. I wish the clan invite system was also in game.

        • You know what else I hate. The fact that I have to login to the Bungie site every single time. I use a google login and it will not remember who I am. Anyone else have this issue? I am using a Chrome browser. H

          • Hate: The 7 second timer it takes to leave queue or go to orbit That you can only equip one exotic weapon and armor at a time That there isn't a 28 playlist for strikes The lack of bank space and bounty space Up until the change a couple days ago I would've added the Public Event spawn rate, although that might be better now (have yet to test) The raid is only 2 bosses and about 20 hours of content the first week and probably only 4-6 hours the second week, was really hoping it would have at least 4 bosses and be 8-12 hours minimum. Love: Pretty much everything else. The game is amazingly fun and addictive Also as far as the article, I browsed through it, but its clear to me that the person who wrote it doesn't understand Bungie. Bungie has said multiple times in the past with Halo that what they tried to do with that game was make 5 minutes of fun and repeat it over and over again. That is what Bungie has done with Destiny and personally I love it.

            • love the group play aspect. really like the guys i've been partying up with, helping each other get what we need, good team synergy. the team we went in to vog with really impressed me. one of the draws of an mmo style game is that it brings people together in a way that i like. hate that you cant use the D pad to hot key. who cares about stupid emotes. lemme hot key a weapon swap or an ammo synthetic. hate that consumables like ether seeds dont show you the cooldown on the ui. why do i have to go into my inventory to see cooldowns? other than that. im pretty much obsessing over destiny.

              • Kinda disappointed that you need the same people for a raid. But it'll probably be fixed in the near future. If not, eh. I'll just find a dedicated group.

                  • love: this clan coop the visuals the sexy menus the companion app the way melee feels the way rocket launchers feel the little sounds as I aim my gun the impressive enemy AI, damn thing moves exactly at the point when i have a bead on it the ability to just go out an explore. it's not skyrim or anything but it has its vastness with enemies cropping up at good enough intervals the sparrow mechanics are perfect, the ability to point while on my sparrow and jump off/on with ease public events the replay of missions and strikes with ever greater difficulty and being surprised that being 'at level' is a pretty big challenge dancing using my super chaining supers with orbs in a team like: the drop rates are pretty good the weapons are diverse enough that I can color my appearance if I want to disappointed that i can't inspect the weapons in my inventory with a 360 rotation that there is not much explanation about things (if we are a reincarnated person/thing from a long time ago, why don't they explain about the vangard reputation, how to gain marks, etc) the story is not better explained or there is not more to it that I can't see my vanguard/faction/crucible reputation without visiting a vendor that the bonuses from grimoire were not very apparent, but i appreciate them now hate that I can't see how I got a grimoire card on the card itself that I can't see how i got the bounty that is completed (I am guessing I will become familiar with the names but...) crucible and the fact that i need crucible reputation for certain guns i am sure there is more but this is off the top of my head H

                      • Barely scratched the surface of the game, not enough free time... But I'm in no rush to get anywhere fast or first :) Tons of fun and plenty to do. Beautiful visuals, fabulous headshots (or belly shots depending on your ennemy, lol) and game mechanics, music is to die for. Like the game. Hate the story delivery, not the story itself which is meant to be vague and episodic. The writing in Destiny is the only part I hate. Would like to be able to turn off all dialogue (Tower guys are OK, grumpy old Banshee-44 cracks me up, as well as the Cryptarch's lines) and play with the sounds of bullets, footsteps, grunts, explosion and the wonderful tale Marty O'Donnell scored.
