Someone has to say it. Does Bungie not realize that randomly finding people online isn't very different from simply using matchmaking? If your friends aren't on, you just search for people so you can play. With the current communication options (or lack thereof), it's simply mind boggling you can't use standard conventions to get a game going.
This is one of those things where a company is being stubborn and it will eventually get fixed. It's just a matter of how long they wait. Online gaming is hardly new, this is such a giant step backwards in terms of structure.

Edited by Hippo_Legacy: 9/18/2014 6:18:00 AMNot unless there's one hell of a major penalty for leaving mid match, because it happens all the time in the strikes, or you get the people who just dick around and don't help at all just to get the rewards at the end. The major difference between MM and finding someone online, is that you're gonna be able to make sure they have a mic and you know they're dedicate to finishing the raid if they're going through the trouble of finding you online. As opposed to getting the kid who just wanted to see what all the fuss was about but actually has zero intention of sitting for three hours and finishing the raid, leaving you and the other 4 guys in your party completely screwed. And to say implementing MM doesn't affect those who don't use it, isn't true at all. Because when you implement MM and people aren't able to finish raids or are consistently getting wiped, or have people leaving, or what ever else can go wrong. You get people calling for the raid to be nerfed, and that "it's too hard, and it can't be beat" then you end up with a nerfed raid that's no fun at all.

It's sad that someone had to create a link so we can find other players to team up with. 99% of games you can talk to people and make friends. I seriously can't take the quietness of this game. Who would ever make a multiplayer based game with no public chat?! It's laughable how idiotic these people are.
-
Um. Actually, going into a raid with randoms is stupid. I don't even do Strikes with randoms anymore. They suck, or die and leave.
-
The raid is not even worth it. There are people that have already beaten it saying that all they got was a stupid shader.

Edited by Hiatus: 9/18/2014 8:08:16 AMIt's smart. Encourages pocket communities that will help each other progress, and has a more intimate feel then drop in / drop out random matchmaking. If no one challenges that which has become normalized, progress cannot be made.
-
i wouldn't want to play the raid with randoms anyway, you may blow off that you need communication but my team just did it and YOU NEED COMMUNICATION it is literately impossible to complete without communication. It took us 6 hours to get to the main boss, and it took us ANOTHER 6 hours just to kill the main boss

People leave the matchmaking the have already! At least when I find them on the forums they don't. I can't tell you how Any go afk to get the rewards or just leave
-
The differences between matchmaking and looking for people online are small but incredibly important. They key differences being. In matchmaking you are paired randomly with players who A) may not be willing to talk or party up. B) may not have appropriate gear. C) could all be the same class or be running a subclass that is useless in the raid. When looking online you can ensure none of this happens, but that is not the main issues the main issue is when people matchmake an incredibly difficult experience, like a raid, and A, B, or C happens it can lead to a wipe, and usually does. When wiping over matchmaking happens too much people begin to complain about the experience being too difficult, when this happens a lot the experience gets nerfed and ruined for those who wanted the challenge. It would be easier and nicer, but in the end it would ruin raiding like it did in WoW.
-
I agree. I got 10 or so people on my psn friends list who I don't know and hardly speak to. My bro and I have to send each other private invites to party chat to keep the random people from jumping in a private chat (has already happened twice since launch). I'm a pretty private type of person and usually only keep close friends on my "friends" list, not some random strangers. This game desperately needs a better in game chat and a match making system for other stuff.
-
Yup an absolutely ridiculous decision by Bungie. It will definitely be fixed and matchmaking added soon. Just a matter of when is the question. If they wait too long they will lose a lot of people due to the frustration of just getting a group play the raid. What grown adult always has 5 other friends on playing at the same time they are? Prob less than 10%. Fix this now Bungie!

Edited by KOCMOHABT123: 9/18/2014 5:41:27 AMPEOPLE DO YOU KNOW THAT PS4 CAN USE USB KEYBOARD? Apparently there are folks who dont know this...
-
The strike mission for Xyor, the unwed says matchmaking but doesn't search at all. I find it mind boggling the matchmaking is so bad on a bungie game.
-
This wouldn't be an issue if joining a fire team was instant.
-
Point is your playing with randoms either way...since cant do in game you do on forums....still randoms....but makes you go to a website....this isnt 1990s.
-
What I don't understand is why people don't want the option, why are you people saying a flat out no to matchmaking? If you have your fire team already how would the option being there affect you in the slightest, the answer is it wouldn't and you're all being elitist morons. This is coming from someone who is going to be running with friends by the way when they catch up.
-
God forbid you socialize with other humans and make friends.
-
I asked to get a raid team several times but the time I'm available doesnt work for single person apparently....the option for matchmaking should be there....I mean if dont wanna use it then dont.....just give me the option atleast

Edited by xR1ck Gr1mesx: 9/17/2014 10:45:35 PMMy issue w/ Bungie is no MM for Weekly Strikes? Really? You are telling me I can't get 2 randoms as a fire team and beat it? Please fix this at least.
-
As mediocre as the game is, Bungie made the right call when it comes to Raids. From what I've seen even opening the first door with randoms would suck, let alone the bosses (which all have cool and interesting mechanics that are seen nowhere else in the game for some reason).
-
You WILL not even be able to get inside the first door with a pug group lmao
-
You still don't understand how to use this game do you. Go to your tower and request to chat with someone. Strike up a convo and hopefully make a friend. MM for a Raid is asinine Did you watch any of the VOG raids that were completed? It took team work. It took ppl that for the most part knew each other from playing together. A Raid isn't like anything else. There needs to be dedication from the ENTIRE team. It isn't like a pick up game of Basketball on a playground. Bungie made the right move in making Raids non-mm
-
I don't know if a full match making system system is ideal, but we do need a way to hook up with people doing the same mission. like being able to post an open invitation for people to join us on "x" mission or raid. and people have the option to join from ingame. or to post requests to join certain missions and leaders can go through lists of available players and pick out his/her team.
-
Finding people online is so much different than matchmaking. The little bit of extra effort you have to put forth (and it really is SUCH a small amount of effort) will help ensure your party is all on the same page and it'll prevent people from ragequitting as a) they are playing with people who are now on their friends list and b) you took the time to find these people so you really want to complete the raid. The raid is a commitment. I have people leaving Heroic strikes frequently, which are a fraction has hard as this Raid. If there was matchmaking for raids you'd spend more time searching for teammates and explaining the mechanics than actually doing the raid.
-
I have no idea why in the tower you don't have the ability to talk to others over mic. It'd be so much easier to just stand there and ask high levels if they wanna raid. Or just meet people for strikes or in general. At this point there is no way I'll ever be able to so the raid, which is sad because it looks so awesome.
-
Honestly it's not that bad. You can walk up to a person, R3 (for Playstation, don't know for Xbox) and get the option to invite and message people. It's an extra step, but it's better then hearing people 24/7 in tower. Plus how hard is it to come on here and say you're looking for people to raid, here is my name, add me and lets do this. It's not on PC so you can't type, everyone talking at once would be chaos... it's just a thing you have to get used to even if you don't like it.

Edited by Vishimtar: 9/17/2014 1:46:31 PMBungie is like that curmudgeonly octogenarian who calls computers "demon boxes" and refuses to change / get with the times. If they wait too long to implement in game group forming and communication methods, this potentially awesome game will join many others like it in the nether of the forgotten.
