Why do we need to get a group to do this?...
Strikes have matchmaking as an option so should Heroics and Raids...
Almost every MMO i can think of has a Raid Finder

If you haven't tried it yet then you don't understand. 6 randoms with no mic WILL NOT even get in the door

Doing the raid with randoms would be impossible. It's not like an MMO where there's 40 guys. You have 6 players that MUST communicate and need to play as a team. Your team is only as strong as the weakest player, AND it'd be so easy to grief in the Raid, ruining it for everyone. And the checkpoint system means your "matchmade team" would have to sit down together for 5+ hours to beat it, and unless you're the fireteam leader you don't keep your progress. Matchmaking is an awful idea for raids all around.

Preaching to the choir good sir! It's really ruining the game now. Isn't finding random dudes on a forum the same as finding random dudes in matchmaking? Come on Bungie, fix this! They could fix the 2+ hour raid dilemma by making a disclaimer that your in this till the end (similar to counter strike on PC prior to entering a ranked match) and if you leave you get a penalty, no more marks for the week or something.

You try taking that on yourself nty

I agree

As a player who has nearly beaten the raid on normal, I can say matchmaking (based on my experiences with it in strike missions) would be a mistake. However, I do thing something should be implemented to allow players to form a group themselves (even if it is strangers). Something like that destinylfg website that's out there. You still have to make the fireteam yourself, but it still introduces you to new players.

WoW used to never have raid finder or even dungeon finder and those were the good ole days lol.

it's because the raids are so hard. They are a super big challenge to people who know eachother well, so for a group of strangers they'd be near impossible. If bungie made matchmaking, then people would complain about how hard the raids are. They would nearly never complete them and whine, resulting in a nerf. This would make it easy for other players who know eachother well.

I will simply say that i wholeheartedly agree.

They are inspired by world of Warcraft here in that you need to have a group of people to do a really big and hard mission.

Yup. We need matchmaking. "No you don't, socialize and figure it out." Okay, can we have any form of in-game communication? "You can wave or dance at the small handful of people in your instance. What more do you need?" Screw this, I'm going back to FFXIV and Diablo 3. Games that actually promote cooperative play, not hinder it.

Agreed.

Yes please as well as a way to communicate with everyone in that strike or raid... I mean shit even the COD games had it when you played online...

Yes please.

Agreed.

I agree also, it's a hassle. I can see why they're doing it but most people aren't going to bother. Instead, there'll be a walkthrough up later and people will just join with randoms and go through it together.
