New Destiny In-Game Chat System!
Hello Guardians...
Many players have told me of the lack of an in-game chat system being a huge let-down in the Destiny world. Specifically the tower, where most interactions are made. Fortunately I have come up with an idea and hopefully it would be little hassle for Bungie to add it in its UI.
Behold!
The in game chat zone.
By strategically placing these zones throughout the tower, players may freely talk about their latest quest, gear or team up for strikes with ease. To avoid harassment, they can enter or exit the zone via the "Approach" button they use with all NPCs or simply walk out of the zone. The option to mute should be available as well or a distance based voice system (DBVS) so you can hear people who are closer to you better than those further in a chat zone.
DBVS would make it less of a problem with everyone talking over each other like a lobby so only the people you are trying to talk to will be able to hear you talk about the game plan since you'll be standing closest to them.

1 ReplyThey could easily add chat to the interaction screen, then from there the other person can choose to chat or not sorta like a notification. This could also be expanded by going to other people and accepting or sending chat requests.

1 ReplyVery Good Idea. I love Destiny, but non of my friends have it so finding people online to commit to Raids is key! Chat option for me somewhere in the Tower would help me gain another 5 needed to do a Raid with and other missions too. or just have an option to allow chat, mute individuals or mute all? It's so easily done. This is the one main feature missing from this awesome game.

Or hey! Here's an option. The ability to turn on a proximity chat (default is off) and allow us to SAVE our options so we don't have to keep turning grouping options to everyone instead of just friends damnit.

2 RepliesI don't know about this...what if you have to go do something, but you wanna keep talking to somebody? you would have to stay in that zone=/ I think it would be better to just have the option to approach a player, and then send a request to chat with them, then if other people want to join in on the conversation, then they do the same. This way, we wouldn't have to listen to all the other conversations going on while trying to speak to a friend or something.

2 RepliesI'm sure they have plenty of ideas on how they want it to work, but programming is most likely the issue, or possibly the servers could be the problem, The servers simply might not be capable of handling voice chat.

I showed dedtiny to my wife, and she thought it was really cool you could play with other people. Until i told her there was no easy way to talk to them. From the mouth of a non-fan-person: "Thats stupid. Why would they let you see other people but not talk to them?"

That's a way better idea than the prox chat that people have proposed. I thought the Tower was way too crowded for that shit. But this would remedy that perfectly.

I think this is an amazing idea as I too have no friend on playstation 4 playing Destiny so finding others to group up for whatever would be much easier. Would be an excellent addition to a superb game. Bungie make this a reality not just a dream.... #Tower chat #proxy chat :D
