Hello,
I got Destiny last Tuesday. I have been trying to play every day for the past week, but I never get past installation. Every time, between 20-50%, I get kicked off with a "caterpillar" error code. Despite assurances from your website that the problem is on your end, I have tried increasingly odd hours and times and I still get the same error every time. I never get kicked off of Xbox Live, just "lost connection to partner services."
I thought this was a NAT issue, so I plugged my XBox into the DMZ slot in my router. Still have the same issue. I also want to note that I never get the "centipede" error code that denotes a NAT problem - every single time, it's "caterpillar."
What do I do? I have tried everything. I have deleted and attempted to reinstall the Destiny content, I have signed in and out of Xbox Live, nothing seems to work.
EDIT: So, I fixed the problem, but the solution is not ideal. Basically, my router/firewall (Sonicwall, so it does both) wasn't agreeing with Destiny's netcode, so I took it out of my system and am now using a different router (Apple airport/time capsule/whatever). Now, it works flawlessly. So - I suggest anyone encountering these problems to check their networking devices to see if something may be causing an issue. If it is, you may have to choose between the game and the device.

Same here, though not through installing, since I managed to get that done second release day, I am however getting the lost connection to partner services error about every 15-30-45 seconds or when a fireteam member picks up a patrol mission. I paid about 100 even to get this game pre ordered, shipped and I've worked my ass off on it so far. and this only really started being a big issue about mid yesterday. Tried changing the router settings, nothing.. at the very least a service rep from bungie should address this issue in particular... at least post a reply to one of these.

Edited by KissMyAsthma: 9/15/2014 7:12:40 PMInstall the game from the Xbox Dashboard. Are you on 360? Before pressing A to start the game, press X for game details and you should have an option to install the game to your hard drive. That way it is at least installed. Some people have better success getting stable once it's installed like that, but I still get the error.

I'm in the same case. I could install the game, because I can do it in the dashboard of my 360, but, finally, I cannot play more than 4 minutes, so, it was useless to go through installation. So, if you are on 360, you can install it by sahsboard (push X on the game icone, and choose "install"). Nobody here really know what is this error, but a user of this forum found a solution for his caterpillar error. It's not NAT, but he could go through by modification in P2P filter of his ISP. So, try to contact your ISP and ask them to rremove this filter. Some guys here spoke also about firewall of your routeur. If you can, reduce the security level of it. Good luck :-)

Dude, I'm right there with you. I have the identical symptoms. I would at the very least like a heads up from bungie just to let us know they are working on it.

Your not alone. I feel like I paid $60 for a error button.
