Destiny servers are down??

I am attending SUNY University at Buffalo. I live on campus and I have direct ethernet connection into the residence hall's internet connection. This means blazing fast internet + download speeds. I was very happy to be using their internet until somebody told me that Destiny was having problems. After my classes, I rushed home to get on and play since I hadn't gotten a chance to play. When I did, I played for about 10 seconds before getting kicked out. Tried again, got about 30 seconds in before getting kicked out. Tried again today, played for about 2 minutes before getting kicked out (and after the 60 second milestone I was sure that it was working). My question is: Does having a university connection cause problems for Destiny? If that's the case then I want to figure out how to either fix that, or get a refund. There's also the possibility that Bungie is doing "testing" and that's why I can't play yet. However, my friend can get on and play fine. He has his own personal home connection as he isn't on a college campus. This is what leads me to believe it's me not Bungie. Somebody, anybody, please help me out here.

  • So I actually just called (2:30 EST) and the girl I spoke with claimed that UBIT was actually completely unaware of this issue and there wasn't anything they could do, as the issue would be on part with Destiny's servers, and not UB's resnet. She seemed pretty uninformed and was giving me the normal run around, though. Just a mere heads up for the other UB residents out here. We need more people reporting this issue to the IT Department in order to possibly have it fixed.

    • I go to UB to and Zilphy and one other person on here told me that UB it is aware and they are trying to fix it. He said that he will be checking and updating us when he goes to work each day.

    • I kept getting a "you must be connected to Xbox Live" error message earlier. I quit Destiny from the menu and restarted it, and the game said there was an update. Of you're on Xbox One, try that or a power cycle (hold power button for 10sec until full power off) and maybe you'll be in business.

    • It's probably the uni's firewalls.

    • I am also a student at the University at Buffalo and I've been having connection problems since Tuesday September 9th. I usually can get into the game world for about 10 to 20 minutes before I get disconnected. I'm usually presented with the "bee" error code, but I've received other ones too. Anyone know when we will get an update on the fix? My whole experience has been very frustrating so far.

    • this is what bungie tweeted on Tuesday "We're aware of issues with playing Destiny on college campuses. Stay tuned for information to share with your local network admins." so they are aware there is a problem..all i can say is stay tuned to the news feed on here or their twitter account

      • University's don't give Attendants the proper connection for some games, since Destiny needs more of a proper internet to be running on. Don't except the common errors for university wifi : Centipede, Baboon, Flatworm,

      • The issue normally with college internet is the ridicules amount of firewalls and blocks they put on it. Almost all online games that connect through a university's wifi or internet have issues because the university is more concerned with their internet security and controlling what is accessed on their campuses.

      • There appears to be an issue across the nation at universities with playing destiny. It seems like for the most part we have to sit back and wait until either the universities or bungie correct the issue. Some have mentioned the possibility of an issue between P2P networks and firewalls that ultimately prevent a connection to the servers. You're doing better than me though, I haven't been able to get in at all.

        • Lol! A refund for an already opened game that doesn't work on a private university network connection? Good luck with that son.

You people who live in Universities I feel for you, the only idea I can think of is calling whoever is in charge of your internet. Give them the ports Bungie has in the troubleshooting section. 7500-17899 (TCP) Outbound 30000-40399 (TCP) Outbound 35000-35099 (UDP) Inbound and Outbound 3074 (UDP) Inbound and Outbound I have heard Universities block p2p networking, not sure. I hope you all figure it out.
