Hunters pvp

Does it get easier? I'm only level 10 and I'm getting clobbered online. I love the guns and throwing knife but I'm unmatched online when it comes to a one hit kill ground pound or nova bomb. The golden gun takes a little more precision. I made a warlock last night but I feel like a noob using one of this characters.

  • As a level 24 blade dancer trust me, we're at no disadvantage when it comes to supers. I've taken out the entire enemy team in less than 10 seconds using arc blade, it's all about timing your activation just before the fight starts. Same with golden gun, they both just need a bit of forethought to be used properly. As for having less health than the Titan, well we have higher mobility so get around him and hit him from the side or back, you need to keep moving since you can't take the hits as well as he can.

    • Hunter is very hard at first. part of the reason is hunter starting skills suck pretty bad compared to the two other classes. Hunter relies solely on aim at the early going because you're as soft as a warlock but without the nice "oh crap" buttons. By the time you unlock bladedancer, you are about equal with the other classes.

    • I've found that hunters are completely underwhelming. They have the least health out of any class and their skill trees support extreme range or up close and personal. Extreme range is terrible on several maps and as the softest class going in melee is just counter intuitive. I've gotten extremely frustrated shooting people 5 times with my hand cannon only to take 2 bullets from a scout rifle and bite the dust. Golden Gun is great but the cooldown and difficulty getting kills in between uses makes it negligable in most matches I've played. I've been trying a bit with Bladedancer but I find it extremely difficult to get close enough to utilize my melee, especially with shotguns as powerful as they are at close range. So far I've hated PvP, mostly because of the MASSIVE difference in HP between classes. A souped up hunter melee takes 1/3 of a titans health while the titan one hits me with his melee.

      • Personally, I'm tired of seeing hunters in PvP. I played squirmish and fought an entire fire team of hunters. Like really? They have a cape and they're instantly a better choice, apparently.

      • Strafing and double-jumping are your best friends as a hunter. That + auto rifles = higher chance of domination.
Yeah, I know using ARs is kind of a scrub move, but hey, it works for me.
• Everyone has been encouraging. I'll stick to my hunter. I'll be out of town next week so I'll just explore and complete levels for xp at the hotel with its crappy internet.
1. The animation for the golden gun is slow and when the supers for warlock and titan are instant, best not use it in a firefight.
1. The titan has to get close enough to use his super. The attack is not instant. He can even be killed flying in. If he misses he is a sitting duck. The warlock actually has to cast his bomb. The range is limited. Then you have to stand in it for it to hurt you. Golden gun is actually the best of the three. Making it out to be some kind of disadvantage is ridiculous. Laughable even. The best advice I can give would be, manage your radar well. When a target moves from your tertiary to secondary radar ring, and you start to get a good sense of how soon you will engage them based on their movement and the map layout, ready the gun ahead of time. Odds are good they will come around a corner and face a losing proposition. The gun is fine to use in a firefight, that's what it's for, you just have to be smart about when to activate it and activate it preemptively. 2. You can hit a foot or a shoulder or be 3 feet to the left and kill three people with one shot if you spec it to blow up. It's "aim" is quite forgiving in my experience. 3. Every other ability is a one shot and you're done. You can actually hit pvp right away, just stick to the matches where level advantages are disabled and play till you get better. As much as I enjoy PVE you level up a lot faster and make more glimmer in PVP. Well that's my opinion anyways. Never played a blade dancer mind you because I haven't' played a hunter since the beta but unless something changed dramatically gunslinger should be just fine. Just practice man.

      • If you dislike Voidwalker, use Sunsinger (I think it's soooo much better). That requires a bit more skill than jump and throw down a bomb. It's definitely more advanced though. As for your Hunter PvP issue, just keep looking for good guns and bring them to PvP. Upgrade your skills.

      • If I managed to get in the top three by using a hand cannon a few times with my hunter you should do okay. It just takes practice. Try a machine gun and race toward the heavy ammo. That will help with your kills. I hate the hunter grenades though. They are so underpowered when compared to say a Titan. I have two characters. A hunter and a titan. I haven't tried the Titan yet in pvp but I think I will do much better since I use an AR and shotgun with my Titan.

          • You will get better by playing PvP. I just played a few games with my new Titan to level his subclass and I was the top 2/3 players every time - I even got the first blood achievement. I was level 4 with a green gun and all white gear. Practice, practice, practice.

          • I'm Lvl 9 and I do great in pvp. Went up two lvls in pvp from 7 to 9. I'm also a hunter. Aim for the head. Headshot instant kill

            • It gets easier in the fact u get better as u play. Also the more rare weps come with perks that give yiu an edge.

            • What kind of weapons are you using? When I was a level 10 hunter, I was Destroying.

              • Early stages of hunter i went with an auto-rifle in PvP and i blew through people, when you get higher i recommend switching to a pulse rifle, in a stand up gun fight 1v1, no supers..the hunter is a beast, hell even in a group fight the hunter is still a beast BUT using the golden gun is risky as hell, hunters are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to supers. 1. The animation for the golden gun is slow and when the supers for warlock and titan are instant, best not use it in a firefight. 2. you have to actually aim with the golden gun. 3. if you wait too long when activated you'll likely get two shots at best instead of the full three. Honestly my advice would be to hold off of PvP for a while, play PvE, strikes and stuff like that until you hit 15 then work on upgrading your subclass (Bladedancer) because the arc blade super is faster than the golden gun and if you play a lot of control the arc blade is a must for close quarters.
