how to beat the summoning pits?

How the hell do i beat the boss in the summoning pits strike? says its a level 12 strike but 3 level 12's couldnt get anywhere with him. too many mobs surrounding him and his health is ridiculous. When it says level 12 strike should i really be like level 16? Also this game is amazing peace

  • hide! seriously. the guardian on phogoth should always be hidden and safe from all the other enemies. find a place where you see him but he can't get to you with his beam thingies and stick to it. the other two guardians should deal with the waves and waves of respawning enemies. try and chain your supers in the end. we just did the weekly and omg... died a gazillion times, were just about to give up (again). but somehow we beat him. lol.

You just have to be patient and communicate. Me and my friend do the level 24 vanguard tiger strikes at a level 25. I just leveled to a 26, today when I got my wife to pick up my helm of inmost light because I 'm at work. Remember to be patient and clear the room of enemies initially before you start attacking Phogoth. Someone needs to knock out the wizards so they don't pin you down for the knights and cursed thralls to finish you off. Also I would recommend staying to the left side of the arena. If you stay left , more than likely the adds on the right side ( the ledge) won't even aggro. They'll basically stay there and mind their business. We generally clear our area and pick off those guys on the right with our ranged weapons (scout and sniper rifles).

  • It's easy once you get the hang of it. First off, pack solar weapons. They rip the shields of the warlocks clean off making them weak to conventional gunfire and headshots. If you see a Knight with a blade, change targets. Knights with melee weapons are even more dangerous then the Ultra (Boss). They'll rush you and finish you off in two or three hits. DON'T turtle in the tunnel that leads into the room. By doing you, you trigger a massive "Player Kill" event that will cause the game to spawn Knights and Wizards at a higher level then you can handle. By staying out in the open, you only spawn Thralls and Acolytes at more manageable levels with the exception of the scripted adds during the Ultra fight. While the Ultra is chained, he doesn't bother you. He won't unchain until you hit him enough. Ignore him and open up clearing the room first to get some breathing space and explore the room for a bit. Once you're prepared, THEN open fire on the Ultra. There are roughly three that I counted scripted adds. The first one is the usual Acoylites and Knights. There are some Cursed Thralls in the mix. Try to head shot the Cursed Thralls while enemies are massed. When a Cursed Thrall dies, it exploded hurting anything nearby. Typically this will kill other Thralls. If any other Cursed Thralls are hit, they explode too and generally large enough groups can kill Acolytes and ruin the Knight's day. The next two waves have Wizards. Usually about two. They also have Knights with melee weapons. Focus down the Knights with blades first. If you have solar weapons, now's the time to use them to rip the shields off and kill the Wizards easily. Once the second wave of Wizards is taken down that's it for the scripted adds. The remain Thrall and Acolyte Spawns for ammo shouldn't bother you in the least. The Ultra in question is a variation on the Ogre enemy of the Hive. However this Ogre doesn't have the weapon point in it's eye where it fires it weapon. Instead the weak point in question is the pustule of flesh center mass just below it's mouth. It can only focus on one player at a time and generally goes after the player that shot it last until it can't see the first player and goes after a player that's damaging it. The arena is question is set up so that the players stay on the outside and the Ultra stays in the middle with the players using the pillars and walls to block line of sight to keep from getting hit by the Ultra's eyebeam attack. Use this cover to stay out of the eyebeam attack while you focus on the adds when they show up. If you're going to die, try to die in cover so others can get to you easier. I certainly won't leave cover to save you if you die by trying to beat the Ultra with your face. It's only impossible for those who cluster up in fear. This fight is for the fearless.

  • Yeah this fight is pretty much impossible right now. I've tried it over 20 times and haven't had a group even get near killing him (lvl 22 strike version) There are just too many adds. And he kills you almost instantly. We can run around shooting for 20 minutes and only take out 1/5th of his health. Then just one stray witch shot. Or a random knight hit. And you wipe. -_- basically if you randomly get this strike at lvl 22. Just leave and don't waste your time.

  • i jumped into this session a little late but they were about to fight the last boss. we were in the left side of the room. one in the door way. one half way into the room. and i was right at the edge of the room. whenever the boss took agro to someone else. that when i use to hit hard. revive whenever you can too and it should be done easy. but then again. i was 14. the other two players were 15 and 17. So we had a great head start to the mobs

  • My team died like 6 times before we got this right. There are some rocks on the left which we sorta chilled by. One guy at the very last rock to cover mobs coming from up the stairs, and two guys by another set of rocks on the same left side. I was a warlock, level 13, we had a titan level 14 and another titan level 9.

  • The strategy we used was pretty standard for strike bosses. I've found spreading out helps on tougher fights, so we had one guy standing at the door where you enter on the second level, focusing on the boss initially while the two of us left mowed down the adds working towards the back where the gold chest was (a tomb ship appeared as we made it there). After that, we spilt up, each taking a side where those giant grey/silver curved walls were and just passed aggro back and forth between all three of us. As soon as you pull, he fires his mouth laser thing at you, duck behind the wall. When the next wave of adds spawn, the two guys on the ground clean them up before they hit your "tank" on the second floor and go back to spinning the boss around. This strat kept him essentially planted in the middle of the room, making his line of sight easily predictable and the add spawns much more manageable

    • I took our team +-40 min and alot of revives but we did it. The best advice I can give you is run around. And make sure all 3 of you are spreaded over the area.

    • The adds that you have to worry about after the Wizards. Have someone on your task focus the boss with heavy DPS. Then have someone else focusing Wizards. The last person is focusing the boss and helping with taking down the Wizards. With this strategy as long as everyone is using their agility to their advantage, and I really mean constantly moving across the map, you should survive. I just finished this mission using that tactic and my team didn't get wiped at all. You will die...sometimes a lot. But you should not get wiped. Also, be mindful of when you revive someone. Don't revive them if they're in the middle of heavy aggro. Sometimes you should just let them wait the thirty secs. That doesn't mean to never revive your teammates though. Just be smart when you do it.

    • As a Hunter, speed and mobility is your friend. I simply ran around using my double jump + Passive movement killing the mobs and such until I get some Special/Heavy Ammo. Then proceed to deal damage to the boss. Takes time but it works.

    • Took several wipes before our group beat him. On the attempt we downed him, the adds stopped spawning after maybe 15 to 20 minutes. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or that is intended but it was 20x easier after that 0.O

Oh boy was this a tough one. It does not feel tuned for three players, let alone the gear we got at level 12. I attempted this once, and then waited two levels to attempt again. I got into a really nice fireteam (14/14/15) with some crafty people. What we did was sit in the starting room for a little bit, damaging the boss until he broke loose, and had one of us leave the room to focus solely on the boss while the remaining two remained within that starting room. We did it just right so the person outside could solely focus on the boss while the two of us in the room handled the adds. Peroidicallly a Shriek will appear in the starting room above. Back into the hallway to the starting room, but not too far as you will trigger 'consumed by darkness', destroy the Shriek from the doorway as it's Axion blast will hit the walls. After it's dead wait ten seconds before leaving the hallway and back into the entry room to avoid getting hit by the Death Blast, it hurts a lot. The person outside should get on the upper ledge on the left side of the room, and focus on the boss from there strafing side to side to avoid the beam while laying onto the boss. If the boss gets out of range, the two people in the starting room should walk out and lay a few rounds, or rockets, into the boss before retreating handling the Knights, and Wizards accordingly. One person in the entry room should move out to revive the person focusing on the boss, and swiftly run back into the room with the other teammate. Doing the above took my team about sixty deaths, five attempts, and a hour and a half to get down. While I'm unsure if the above is a valid strategy to share, but it's the only strategy that worked for my fireteam, and I.

    • Got him on the first try, bit of luck to be honest. We managed to funnel the adds through one doorway, in which there's this fan like object which attacks you from the ceiling - which you can destroy fairly easily. From this room we could focus the adds down until it was pretty much the boss left on his own.

It's a tough boss, my fireteam died about 3-5 times to take the boss down. Best method I found is wipe out mobs first then attack the boss. Then when more mobs start spawning get one person to aggro the boss ducking behind cover while other two members take on mobs (kill wizards first as they are a pain at times) once mobs are down all focus on the boss. There will roughly be 2-3 waves of mobs. Hope this helps. Good luck. Edit: My Fireteam at the time had x3 lvl 12's So it is possible.

    • Just keep circling him, staying behind cover, rocket launcher for groups of enemies... His stomach is his weak spot. I beat him on my 2nd try.

    • It is awesome isn't it? As long as you weren't expecting it to change your life or something. LOL --- We tried it over and over again with two 12's and an 8 - we came pretty close a few times, but never beat it. I think the key is to stay apart and forget trying to revive each other. Just keep one person alive at all times. I say "I think" this is best b/c like I said we have yet to beat it. Good luck .
