So I got my console home at midnight, all excited and giddy to plug the ps4 console into my monitor and set it up to play some destiny. Something I've waited for what seems an eternity to do.
Low and behold, it doesn't recognise my monitor. It is a Benq GL2460. It has no hdmi port ao I have to run it through a dvi adapter. This is a brand new monitor!
I tried it on the tv in the living room and it worked fine. So I set it up there to get my details and account and updates all done. 3 hours later after trying everything I can I am just sick of it. I am giving up ans going to bed.
If anyone thinks they have an idea on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried turning hdcp on and off, adjusting the resolution, booting in safe mode and trying a different cable. Having it plugged into the tv in the living room is not an option because then I would never be able to use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Now I'm going to go cry myself to sleep
EDIT: oh crap I meant GL2460 sorry for any confusion.
Thank you to all of you for your help. I'm currently at uni at the moment and will try any methods I haven't yet. I'm determined to get this working.
Update So I got off a call with Sony and all they said to do was restart in safe mode (which doesn't work). So I did a bit more research and I found out that the adapter I bought may not support HDCP, even though I turned it off. My monitor does so I'm just going to buy an HDMI male to DVI-D male cable to plug in. No stuffing around with adapters. This should allow for the monitor to be picked up and show video. So right now the earliest I can play is on Friday.... sigh... at least it's better than nothing.

Wait wait wait...NEW monitor with NO HDMI port?...you were scammed
-
Well you need a monitor with an HDMI port
-
Not sure if this helps but on the PS3 you sometimes had to reset it when you'd change from different hdmi settings by holding the power button down until it beeps. Don't know if it's the same tho.

I was expecting a my gf/wife is pregnant thread. Disappoint.
-
Make sure the adapter has a driver installed...
-
Has your monitor's firmware been updated?
-
Tech review read fail. This was huge thing at the launch of the PS4.
-
Thats why i get sony tv for it lol.

Edited by Doc SoCal: 9/8/2014 6:18:25 PMYeah, the adapters to DVI have caused lots of problems for PS4 folks. It was a big blow up at launch. Time to move on and get an HDMI ready monitor.

I thought your dog died 0/10 thread title. Get your priorities in order OP. Worse things than this can and will happen in your life
-
(Didnt read wall of text) you found out you were born a girl an that your mom and dad are really mother and son!? Other than that I dont see anything else being worse than that
-
how is this the worst thing? I was expecting you to drop your console and break it or something.
-
All you need is a HDMI to DVI adapter, pick them up in most electrical stores for a couple of quid. DVI only sends video data through so i hope you have other means for audio...

Simple, did u try holding ur Ps power button key after connecting the cable, where u hold it for two beeps and it automatically recognizes the display. I had to do the same fix for my monitor. Check YouTube should be tons on videos of it.

You could just buy a $10 adapter call VGA to HDMI. I did this for my 360 and It works great but I have no sound. There is a cheap workaround for that problem as well. Idk if ps4 has an spdif out like the 360 does but if so, you can get an spdif to rca($20) Hopefully that helps you out.

A new monitor that doesn't have an HDMI on it? That's kinda odd these days :( I have several BenQ 24" RL2455HM (GL2450) monitors that work great with the XBO/PS4, but I use HDMI for it. I remember awhile back that some DVI converters don't always work correctly which is annoying. Is that a really new monitor? I can't seem to find much info on it? Hmmm.

What brand New monitor today doesn't come with a HDMI port, Display port and DVI port. Would have expected better from Benq really. Unless you bought the cheapest model? Does it at least have a display port? Could try it then with a hdmi to display port adapter.

Who buys benq?

Edited by LegendarySyn: 9/8/2014 5:20:55 PMAre you sure that's the model number? Does the monitor work with anything else besides the ps4? Does the monitor have a menu to select what input you're using?
