READ BEFORE POSTING: This video does not claim that these "parallels" are "intended allusions". This means that as a Christian, I saw some parallels and hoped the community (of all religions) might find them interesting. The point of this forum is for others to come and share parallels between THEIR beliefs/outlook/religion and Destiny. Religious debates should be handled in a different location. Thanks for participating and stay positive! :)
Edit: Destiny seems to call upon many religious sentiments within its story. Post Religious Parallels between Destiny and your beliefs here!

Call me a cynic, but I think Christian themes are what's good for selling a product. Why wouldn't someone use the most common archetype and simple story pattern in the largely Christian influenced cultures of the biggest portion of the gaming and entertainment community? It automatically creates familiarity with the product, no matter what your personal views, because the story is so ubiquitous. For those who are relgious, any and all symbolism, intentional or not, becomes a personal connection to the product.
